C99 or ???

I was one of the fortunate ones to have had access to the original Grimm Cinderella 99. Regretfully, the last of her is about gone, and now there’s no way to replace her.
A friend who grows asked me to pick something for the garden, and when I described Cindy it was decided to try and find another like her.

The seeds were ordered from Seed Boutique, and those chosen were C99 from the GN Collection feminized. 2 of 3 grew, but they are growing NOTHING like the original. I am confused by the differences! The “new” Cindy has huge broad leaves, the original was very slender. The Grimm C99 has almost no odor, even in flowering, and then it was quite citrus-y. These new girls STINK, and they are still in veg!

Has anyone else tried this strain? Is this some variation I’ve just never seen before? Or am I gonna end up with something else altogether? I am confused!!!

Here's the original Grimm C99

And this is the GN Collection feminized version

Thanks for any enlightenment!

Im sure my C99 were nothing like yours. Im sure your C99 now, was nothing like the original.

1 thing tho, my c99s leaves got more slender with age. your oroginal grimm picture was taken in flower clearly.

not an accurate comparison

The original Grimm 99 were NEVER as broad leafed or as "fragrant" as this new grow. That's my point - there seems to be no comparison. That's what has me confused...what AM I growing now? Will it smoke like the Grimm?

i guess you'll have to wait and see

i had heard that c99 was very stable and that it breeds somewhat true

the seeds you rec'd are femmed...so maybe the plant they were made from
was of a different phenotype...just a thought

it breeds true to some extent, but the line can easily be taken in different directions depending on the parents selected.. This is quite obvious when comparing various dif C99 F2+s (Joey Weed, Spice Bros, GN, wallyduck, etc) side by side, or even comparing from garden to garden..

Some F2s are a much better representation of the original Bro Grim stock.. IME with C99 the joey weed F2s are the most reliable in giving u something close to the originals..

i hope the bud ends up close to what you are looking for, but don't be suprised if it doesn't.

That original pic looks pretty heavy on the sativish side of the mix. My C99 doesnt have as skinny leaves as your original but its good to see that familiar marker of the curling upward edge tips on the leaves.

Thanks, MJ, I had heard the same thing about it breeding true and I guess that's why I am so surprised that it looks so different from what I'm accustomed to.

Thanks, Beancounter for the recommendation of Joey weed's C99 - maybe we'll try again with that if this doesn't come out as well as we'd hoped. Guess it's time to "wait and see."

Verite, I'm glad to hear we weren't the only ones to note that particular trait of curling leaf edges. It drove us nuts for a while until we figured it was just the way she grew! Nothing we did fixed it, so we let her be, and she turned out more than fine - it's still the smoke I'll compare all others to! Just trying to get it back is all...your Holy Grail sounds interesting...

Next question - I'll be heading to A'dam for 420. What C99 seeds should I buy to try next??? (besides Joey weed's if available there.)

I also have had great results with Joey Weed ... I have grown out several crops of his C99/Northern Lights, and will get his straight Cinderella 99 soon ... :woohoo:

This was my experience as well, Neptune. Makes her a great strain for stealth growing - at least from an odor standpoint! If you jostled her around a bit in flower she did release some odor - but it was light and almost citrus-y. We did find on drying and cure that she developed more odor, but by that time she was in jars and it was all good!
