Buying seeds for the very first time

i been using clone vendors in Los Angeles for about 4 years now. But more often then not I started getting mixed or wrong strains from vendors all over town.
I want to go back to the source and start with the seeds and just keep cutting....
since I never purchased seeds before, I have tons of questions.
Do I need a P.O. Box?
Where do I buy from?
How do I pay?
Etc..
if anyone can find a time out of their schedule and feel me in on best practices.
Thank you.

Once you start buying seeds and you grow out some males you're gonna start wondering about making your own seeds and breeding with the males instead of just culling them.
"Its just a little pollen on a lower bud, it won't hurt a thing and I'll get free seeds, no harm no foul" is what you'll think to yourself.
After that you'll be anticipating growing out your own seeds and once you see how nicely your first batch of seeds comes out then you're a lost cause, after that all you'll think about anymore is making your own crosses and growing them out.

Once you have good genetic base there is no reason to keep buying seeds. I have about a dozen seed lines that I've bought. I am in the process of doing f2 open pollinations of each of them. Once you do that you are your own seed bank. People should have the mentality that they aren't buying seeds, they are buying gene pools.

You have a point here @Som 2. Yet for a strong genetic base you will need exellent strains if not the best strain. I've noticed an article that states good strains will provide you with an exceptionally high germination rate. And this will help you grow your seeds and produce new, without much of a struggle. Yet... usually good strains come with a solid price. However, there are some strain on a friendly price. There is a lot to be said on this topic, but in a nutshell: don't look for a cheap option and find weed that is good on taste, this shows that the strain is from high quality.

Humboldt CSI has a huge selection of top indicas and they ship quickly. I have also purchased from GreatLakes several times, and had good luck with them too.
