I am contemplating buying a new 2008 Z06 corvette. Is this a dumb move since it costs more than I make from legit work in a year?

Depends on where you live I believe. In the NE if you have a Z06 you also have 1-2 other cars for the other 6 months of the year. So you better have a good reason to have a Z06 as a play car. In FL and the Left Coast it can be a daily driver so who knows better. Now if you dont make enough money to explain it and the other life bills that dont stop cuz you have a new car to pay for then you'd be a fool plain and simple and you prob know that and kinda just wanna hear it. Well there it is for ya.

My toy is a chromed out bike. It makes me feel good but is affordable for my pay scale. Toys are good but if you wanna flash ur stash cash then you're taking a risk if your lifestyle isnt one of money. And if your growing pot to make cash you prob dont make crazy cash legit.....of course maybe not...im not making assumptions not should you really get into it here. Look at work and see how many of your co-workers drive Z06's then you'll know the answer.......mu .02. If you do get it pm me a pic I love em lol.

I run a landscaping company--mow lawns and cemeteries mainly. So nobody really knows how well I do. It wouldn't be a daily driver--just a toy. I don't want it to flash but to go fast.

Well most LS's dont drive z6's as a toy but hey whatevea right......its your thing bro. My bike goe 170+

The new Z06 is scary fast in straight line..Idk about its handling though..You might want to check out some other you could get for Z06 money i.e a used Porsche 911 turbo or a new Cayman S, Lotus exige, BMW M3 all great cars.. for less then a Z06

my dad picked up some of the z06's when they came out. he plans to get at least one of the 08's because of the enacting of fuel restrictions. these cars will not be able to be sold legally in the united states in 2009 i believe was the word

if you want a to drive fast, especially while on public roads, you'll want something a lot less obtrusive. might i suggest something like an bmw m3 smg? audi, bmw, and mercedes all have top end models that look like sedans but are actually rocketships.

I had a cbr 900 and damn near killed myself the first day out. I was flying down the road with some buddies and I was going to fast for a corner--went right into a damn field. Smashed the bike up real good. Road rash is a bitch. As soon as I got better I fixed the bike up a little and sold that damn thing. That bike would do 62 in first gear before it red lined and I only had the balls to go 140 on it the first day and last day.

If I were to get another bike I would probably have to go with exile choppers. One of those kit bikes with the fat tires--real clean.

Why spend so much money for a car that can get beat by a 1987 Buick Grand National?

Makes no sense to me... but to each their own. :)

Well good luck going fast on a exile chopper. If you had problems leaning a CBR over then have fun on a fat tire kit. :bashhead: . Gotta respect whatever you're driving/riding. I got a Ti elbow from the same prob you spoke of on the bike. I got back on and laugh now that I crashed on that turn. Its not going fast its stopping on a bike thats hard or atleast bleeding of speed. I now understand engine braking and lean angle...doh Just wish I had full use of my right arm still. Lesson learned but I still ride it on ONE.

Yeah but a GN isn't gonna turn or look like a C8. I mean those are great cars but its comparing old and new. Not fair.

Ever since I was a little kid I wanted a corvette--I think they are the shit handling and power wise--they hold their value and if they stop making muscle cars because of emissions they would only go up in value.

Don't buy it dude. For that much cash buy something foreign, or don't buy at all. Save the cash, pay your bills a few months in advance or something brotha. Plus, like someone said before, LS's don't drive new vettes. I'm just mad skeptic, I wouldn't drop that much in cash anywhere, I'd have a friend or a family member do it. Obviously one you could trust, IRS are not ones to be fucked with.

What about jealous friends? Start chirping like canaries because YOU got your new toy and they still drive the 89' Honda. Be careful man, it's a risk.

I can see saying you inherited like 20-30 thousand. Cool. But 70-80? Not so much so.

Better yet, buy a flat in another country, get a few passports, put a regular audi in the garage of your new apartment. With the economy the way it is, put the cash in a bank in freaking Zurich.

A lot of cool shit can be done with that much cash, be smart. Avoid the flashy red vette, draws attention and it's obnoxious, sorry dude. Plus, ever heard of global warming? Buy a god damn hybrid.

Oh, dude... like someone else said. Sorry I missed it the first time, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus all make rocketships, plus they just don't scream look at me quite as much... if you decide to buy a car. What's wrong with yours?

I've got two work trucks, a jeep rubicon, and a van. The jeep is fun to drive but I've just always wanted a vette. I just want some cool shit...dammit. It sucks being able to get what you want and still being unable to do it.

For the money, I'd say buy yourself an old classic muscle car, and restore her. Nothing beats an early 70's Chevelle SS, or something along those lines.

But then again, I'm not a 'vette fan, so what do I know.
