Noncannabis terpenes come from other plants.

Are they synthetic? No, see above. Are they chemicals? Yes, as are cannabis terpenes.

Read books.

At 700 F it releases benzene, but less then a tobacco cigarette. No ppb levels given.

Just faulty science to grab headlines.

Meth? METH! every dab-rig is now an official meth lab! OH Boy, and forfeiture is back on the menu?
From Wiki:
Methacrolein, or methacrylaldehyde, is an unsaturated aldehyde. It is a clear, colorless, flammable liquid.
Methacrolein is one of two major products resulting from the reaction of isoprene with OH in the atmosphere, the other product being Methyl vinyl ketone (MVK, also known as butenone).[1] These compounds are important components of the atmospheric oxidation chemistry of biogenic chemicals, which can result in the formation of ozone and/or particulates.
It is present in cigarette smoke.[2]
Industrially, the primary use of methacrolein is in the manufacture of polymers and synthetic resins.
Exposure to methacrolein is highly irritating to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs.
The essential oil of the plant Big Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) contains 5% methacrolein.[3]

If anyone got the wrong conception from this study, first off, butane has 0 to do with the carcinogens.

"Degradation products from myrcene, limonene, linalool, and Fire OG cannabis terpenes, a commercially available mix specifically fabricated for terp dipping, were monitored."

no butane was in teh mix.

My main takeaway from this, is that enails are essential for temperature regulation, if you want to be creating 0 carcinogens from heating terpenes.

Another most likely one, is that all smoking, as in joints or a pipe, is above the temperatures that create these carcinogens listed. Terpenes burned in most herb samples will create benzene, and the other one that is harder to spell.
