Im pretty sure it would be against the law to require a drug purchase in order to get a drink.

I dont believe its against any law, but the dutch are very "proper". Many people in netherlands do not rely on coffeshops for herb, but rather enjoy sitting and smoking in public. That is why most places will not sell you anything unless you buy their smoke.

Back in 2005 a friend and myself went to the HTCC (now of course with the herds of tourists i EXPECT service to be terrible) so we jumped into some small as shady looking coffeeshop that had no other patrons. After going through their whole menu of herbs/hashes we decided to buy nothing except a couple cups of coffee. The guy told us he would not sell us coffee, so we said OK and walked over to a table and sat down to start rolling a joint. Shop worker tells us we have to leave and swipes at our bags of herb on the table knocking them to the floor. So we got up and threw this fuking arabian around the shop knocking over tables and chairs sending the whole shop into dissaray. Picked our herb off the floor and left. If his herb wasnt so terbily grown and the hash wasnt made made of goat shit and incense we probably would take their stash too...

We are americans. We are rude, arrogant and sometimes obnoxious, but disrespect us and we will kick your fuking teeth in...

I really wouldn't go so far as to say Americans are rude and what-not; I find them more of the hard-working and caring type...in general as a culture. It's the Melting

You guys are funny, I was born in europe and have lived in four different countries and found theres assholes in every one of them. No ones got the monopoly on them.

Second note is being an asshole doesnt help bring in tourism dollars. When more than half your economy relies on that you think that most of those in the service industry would catch on.

And PS. you might have a go at the British for their police not having guns, but it's a much better situation than in the US, and are you really a hardman and can look after yourself, or do you hide behind your gun and beat up weaker people like the Arabs in Amsterdam.
