It's good to save resources. Strictly speaking electricity is wasted over 40w/ft
Edit : Up to 70w/ft can work safely some grows; 100w/ft is possible but I've only seen burnt bud for memory - large yields tho.....
Most HPS and MH globes begin losing output at 1500 hours (4 months of 12/12).
MH globes may last longer. I've found a 400w MH to be totally ineffective at 3000 hours.
HPS globes used for blooming should be replaced at 2000 hours, especially at lower watts/ft.
