Building the perfect large stealth grow - LED

I'm looking to build a new stealth grow after learning a lot from my previous one. I want to be able to have it in my bedroom and have people not think twice about it. With the most advanced LED's, fans, and your help, I'm confident it can be done.

I'm going for maximum square footage. Sound will be well muffled with my fan, carbon filter, and muffler but I could always add a small fishtank on top. The fishtank might be the best idea because then I can cover whatever box I have with a cloth.

Current equipment:
- 4 CXA 3070 COB LEDS - 200W
- Whisperquiet Fan with DIY carbon filter
- Muffler - reduces sound by over 60%

I'd like to have a spot for flowering, veg, and possibly a mother. Not sure if it makes more sense to do it all in one cab or in 2 seperate ones. Will be growing in soil. Needs to be easy to access and a hidden and/or covered lock.

Types of stealth cabs I could use:
- Utility closet - might not blend in well with the room
- Wood wardrobe - height - can be too big for a room
- Long 6 drawer dresser - biggest width and depth

Thoughts everyone? I'll post some details instructions once I do build it so people can follow along.

Using a dresser would probably look less out of place, especially if its in a bedroom. You wouldn't have the height so you would have to train the plants a lot more. If you can put your fan on a speed controller that may help with the sound of the air movement. Another idea is to use PC case fans for intake/outtake air. They can move a decent amount of air with almost no noise.

The idea of putting a fishtank on top would help a lot with camoflauge. Is there some kind of soundproofing or insulation you could buy that is also reflective? That would be worth it for this kind of application.

Good luck,

Thanks for the thoughts Funk!

I think I'm going to go a dresser instead of a wardrobe. It looks less ominous in the room and actually has more square footage if I can keep the height down. Just need to find a BIG 8 drawer one that has some good height to it. I'm going LED's so plants can be less than 12 inches away.

Good thoughts on the reflective insulation. I'm sure I can find some and that'll help with the sound for sure. Could line the whole thing with it.

Thoughts on SOG vs SCROG with topping? Plant numbers here in Canada really start to matter with 6+ plants. I could potentially do 1 mother, 2 in veg, and 2 in flowering. I could make little compartments on the inside for each.

My biggest concern is how to get in and out of it in a sneaky way. The drawers will be permanently screwed/glued to the front. Wherever I have the door, I'll do a layer of panda film with a zipper door because lightproofing hinged doors is a real bitch. Here are the options I've come up with:
- Hinge the front panel with the drawers on it. Could hinge sideways so it opens out like a regular door or could have the hinges at the top or bottom so that it hinges vertically.
- Make the top removable. Would probably put a clothe over it with a light fishtank on top. Would have to remove the fishtank and cloth to get to it. This is where I'm leaning right now.
- Make the back removable. Would have to slide it out from the wall which could be a real pain.

Any help is greatly appreciated! This is going to be truly kickass when it's done.

A SOG would be great but you would have height restrictions if you used a dresser. Doing a SCROG or LST would work out well. As for the door I'd go with using the front. As long as it still looks like a dresser from the front and is light proofed you shoule be fine. If you put a sheet over the entire thing and a fishtank you'll be fine.

Ideally, not having a sheet would look better in my room.

I found a dresser that goes all the way to the floor and is 6ft x 19" x 32". Nice solid old style one.

How would I do a lock/hinges on it if it was at the front? Anyone have links of similar builds?

Any other tips or links to similar grows?

How much height do I need for plants in 3 gal containers?
