If you dont use misters that break down the droplet size to under 50 microns your not gonna be enjoying the benifit of aeroponic growing. If you just use sprinklers or sprayers and your droplet size is over 50 microns what your working with is actually an NFT system.

Im new to aeroponics, is this much better then hydrophonics. They seem like exact opposites...

one has lots of water and some air bubbles...
the other is lots of air and some mist...

aeroponics seems harder to do but is it worth it?

If you go directly to Home Depot, go to the Professional/Contractor desk. You can special order the UNCUT 98" posts through them and the caps.

Tell them to grab their catalog for their Veranda line of vinyl fencing (made by US Fence). The parts you need are:
1. 73065388X 4-3/4"x4-3/4"x98" posts. Price is $25 each.
2. 73061601 5"x5" beveled post top. Price is $2.50 each.

You can just buy two 98" posts and cut them in half for 4 lengths of 4 feet. Of course, order 2 caps for each post you will end up with. 8 caps for 4 posts, etc. Be aware that it may take up to 3 weeks for your order to arrive at the store.

Here's where to get the bulkhead drains:
http://www.ponds2go.com/Bulkhead_Fittings_1_FPT_p/175106.htm
The 1" size is the one you need. A 1-5/8" hole saw is perfect size for it. Also need a 2-3/4" hole saw for 3" netpots.

Its not quite finished (few finishing touches needed, like the drain pipe) but here's my NFT posts. The smaller rear one is the aero at 24 days flower.

Floranova Grow and Bloom as base. Supplements are Hydroguard, Hygrozyme, fulvic acid, Liquid Karma and a line of relatively "unknown" flowering boosters (Holland Secret).

so i ended up buying 1 of my buddies aero system instead.... its the real deal from the shop went ahead and got it for $200 since buy the time i got everything to build my own it would've cost me $195 + a few other things... :yoinks:

since i couldnt find the post 98" for $25 i would've been stuck paying:

5 4ft post x $20= $100
50 sprayers x $.13= $6.50
10 end caps x $2.50 = $25
4 1/2 in. 10ft pipe x $1.60= $6.40
5 1/2in. end caps x $.23= $1.15
1 1056 gph pump x $56= $56

You could have made a system for around $100. Keep in mind that shapes and sizes don't matter. YOu can add items together in order to make the correct size. You can plumb together a 50 gallon rubbermaid. Use any containers that can be arranged together. The only difference that I might suggest is using antelco sprayers. They use super low pressure. I've used a single sprayer in the middle of plants with a 150 gph magdrive pump and it rocked.

Not sure where the "couldnt find 98" posts" part came from. I posted exactly how to get them!? Eh well I guess some people would rather pay more and exert less energy.
