Building my first grow room 3x3x8

Well I am off to the races the framing is done, major systems roughed in, outer poly liner is up. Still a lot to do, and much perfection to come.

So here are the details, advice is welcomed so please jump and slap me around if I am off base. I build a room 3wx3dx8h, hung a can50 that is being pulled by a vortex 600 that pushes over the air cooled hood and out the top of the room. I have not enclosed it yet and will pull air through the bottom in the back with 4 3" vent tubes.

I am running a digital 600 W remote ballast and have the agro MH and HPS bulbs for it.

I am going to grow hydro and have bought 8 waterfarms to line the bottom with, no central controlled. Over the weekend I intent to hang mylar on the inside and begin cutting mdf to cover the ousside with.

I have germed a few (6) bagseeds to test out some of the kinks as I get this room up and running. below are pictures.

purcellville nice setup. from what i see it's an expensive cab u built there. only tow things why use the 600 to veg babies??? the other that sun lite kit is no good. i had one of those and it couldn't hold my light when i tried to change bulbs i always had trouble with it slip even if it was locked. know what i mean???? i shall have my eye in yyour grow. hey what are u growing out by the way>??
another questoin how loud is that fan when u step in and does it lead to the attic ??? or right back in to the same room to recirculate?

Yah a distrubing amount of money into this cab already well over 2K and a good 3-400 is from stupid experimenting ideas and just plain being stoned at the depot.

The hangers are a bit of a pain and slip, but I need something and this is it till I find a better replacement.

Why the 600 well it is all I have plain and simple. The hood is cold to the touch and I can place my hand on the glass and it is slightly warm to the touch, so I hope the 36 inches of clearance is enough to not burn these seedlings up.

As for the seeds they are bag seeds from a batch of good humbolt I got. Strange thing one bud only had a shit pile of seeds, most of them crappy but a few decent ones were found. I have germed 5 from that sack and 1 from a random seed I found in a decent diesel X I got hold of. I figured I would play with these as I get this cab up and running, so I am not to dissapointed if I screw something up.

The fan is not quiet but not as loud as you think. I have it running in the basement, which is unfinished, and very close the the HVAC, water filter and all mechanical equipment so the noise is not so suspicious. It is vented to the top of the cabinet and blow into to the open floor joices overhead.

The filter and fan are awesome. I just came up from hanging mylar and smoked a bowl to test the air flow in the cabinet. It is really cool to see the filter pull the smoke as you blow it in every corner. Even better 5 minutes later the place smelled fresh as a daisy.

Just started unboxing the waterfarms and will wash them out this weekend and clean the hydrotron. Can't decide if I should mod the WF now or run them once and see how things go? Well I have a few days to think that shit over. As the seedlings are just popping and I can see the tiny serated leaves coming out. Maybe I will have one decent female to practice on, then I can start the hunt for good genetics.

ah it's just to bad u dont live around here, we could've gone half on some beans. mind u i would want to travel over to amsterdam myself and buy them while smoking what i just bought lol that would be nice. i wish u the best in your grow pcv. i'm sure that light will give u enough buds from this life on to the next. smoke some for me. sun

OK so lights on, ventilation is working and the room has stabalized at 76-78 at 36" below the light. My night time temps are in the mid 60's with the vents turned off. Does this sound ok or do I need to lower the day time temps?

that is some perfect growing conditions there pcv. u will have buds that color and crystal content galore . astonished u will be by the aroma and potency of your new found mystery strain. dont worry if it dont hange color only certain strains do that. stay safe,sun

Looks like you got everything covered right now. There are tons of people on here that will help you out. Just make sure they know there shit.

wow so I got the mylar hung and the temps really come up a bit. had to adjust ventilation just a bit to get back to where we were before.

Hey bro, you'll definitely want to use a QUALITY dust mask when cutting that mdf over the weekend. MDF is made using formaldehyde (sp.) and you DO NOT want to breathe in any dust- I know it may not seem like a big deal, but it really is.

Although a disposable dust mask is better than nothing- it certainly won't filter out all of the dust. I'd go with a respirator type mask- you can get a good one for about $20.00

I believe alot of Home Depot's and most other similar stores won't even cut MDF to size for you in the store- because of the health risk.

Thankls for stopping by. I am up and running on this cabinet and enclosed it with poly an d put one of those stick on zippers down the front. All is going pretty well so far, stop bymy grow in the sig and see what a newbie is up to.

Looking good.where did you find a 600wmH bulb i also have a600w digi,i searched ebay and 7 or 8 hydro shops websites and didnt find any.i just figured they didn't make them for some reason.

Nice job on building the cab. Made my own as well and found there to be lots of tweeking required, hehehe. But, eventually it all comes together and you'll work out any bugs, I am sure.

hey stu ! thanks for the info on MDF, unfortunately it came a little too late for me as i have already finished cutting the stuff. i wont be using it again, if that is the case. too bad, because MDF is so easy to cut and work with.
