building c13 best yield

hello all, ive been reading these forums for a while, and finally im ready for the next step.
first id like to say thank you to everybody for such a great community.
i live in an apartment, and would like to get a c13, with a air cooled 400hps, growing in soil. i have 3 main goals...
1.get as much yield as i can in a c13.
2.i live in WI, and its late fall right now, id love to have some clones ready to plant outside come spring...the more the better!
3.not getting caught is really the biggest plus.
so, im ready to do this, or at least draft it out and plan everything the best i can, not only for better results, but this is a really fun and interesting thing to learn about=)
im really looking for any input anyone can give me to make this the most succesfull grow possible.
one thing i was thinking of doing, is adding some floros to the sides in the c13, adding just a little more love for the plants...is that a good idea? really, any input is appreciated, and again, thanx for all the help everyone=)

Hey, if your gonna use a 400 hps get yourself a Hortilux bulb. it has added blue spectrum which is great for vegging. I use them exclusively and usually get better than 75% females you wont need any extra flourescents with a 400 watt in a c13 however you will need a good inline fan to air cool that light. Most people use a Fantech or Elicent inline fan. Good luck with your grow!

thanx for the info, ill check those bulbs out, sounds good. would the floros help at all, like maybe where leaves or plants are in the way, wouldnt they help get light to more places? thanx again=)

LOL @ strain searcher. About adding extra fluorescents: It's really hard to keep temps down in a c13 with a 400 watter most people use a 250 with a c13. If you do use a 400 it might be hard to control your temps let alone adding extra lights which will mean more heat. If you want to add fluoros, I would put some tubes on the side and use a 250 watt hps and get a metal halide conversion bulb, which will be used for vegging and then use a regular hps for flower or else use cool white fluorescents in conjunction with the hps..

Odor Controls

Odor Controls

I use a c13 cabinet with a 400 hps mounted on the top. Air cooled and exhausted to the outside. However, the issue of 'stank' comes into play in closer quarters. Try some Super Skunk or some White Widow and you will know what I mean. I bought a small ion generator and ozone generator, that covers about 2,000 sf for $135 on ebay. called renuwair from China.

My yields keep three adults in smoke about 65% of the time. I use separate veg and bloom areas. You will also need a place to dry your yield with odor controls as well. Compact Fluorescents work well for vegging too. Blue light for veg and red light for bloom.

Good Luck

thanx everybody for the input. i already have an air cooled 400hps, so id like to use it. anyone try scrog in c13? im leaning towards it, but im not to familure. i think im def gonna go soil though, as im new to this and hydro seems anal and unforgiving. ill give that a try after a few good grows. thanx for the input everyone!

I kept 300 watts of hps and two 90 cfm computer fans for exhaust wiht no reflectors so I think its all in how anal you are with the 400. Should be so easy that you shit your pants.

By mounting my 400 hps outside/over the cabinet; I am able to use three (3) pc fans from Radio shack and my cabinet stays at about 75-85 degrees all day long. Summer and winter. Two mounted high and one mounted lower. Five or six 3" dia. holes drilled in bottom for ventilation. Good luck!
