Building a Simple Relay

:peacock: Hi all, I need to build a simple 120V relay to control my AC unit with my environmental controller.

Im about to get the parts I need but wanted to make sure the following part would work.

This is for a simple 1 outlet relay.

I can figure out how to install the wire terminal rings and wire up outlets.... But is the the part I need? (I am going to be running it to a 120V Load from, from 120V trigger....)

Thanks in advance!

I am looking at getting the...

HEAVY DUTY OPEN FRAME 30-AMP RELAY, DPDT,
120-VOLTS AC INPUT.

Manufacturer is NTE:
(Manufacturer # R04-11A30-120 )

Electrical Specifications:

Contact Rating: 30 Amps up to 300VAC 50/60 Hz, 5 Amps @ 480/600VAC, 50/60Hz, 0.75pf (slightly inductive) load. 1 1/2 HP motor load at 120 thru 600VAC 50/60Hz. 30 Amps @ 28VDC, resistive load (each pole). 2 HP motor load at 200 thru 600VAC 50/60Hz when using two poles to switch both sides of load.
Contact Material: Silver cadmium oxide, 5/16" Dia
Coil Coil Power: Maximum Coil Dissipation: 4 watts DC
Duty Cycle: Continuous
Operational Characteristics Timing Values . . . . . Operate Time: 40mS or less Release Time: 30mS or less

That relay should easily handle your a/c, but you should check the nameplate on the a/c to make sure. You might want to check and see if the environmental controller has a time delay on the output - air conditioners do not like being short-cycled (turned off and turned back on again before the pressures can drop).

AC unit is an Everstar, 12 amps power req.

If Ac is short cycled it waits before kicking on the compressor, I assume this has to do with the pressure drop or internal features?

Theres is a time delay with my atmospheric controls which i can program...

Currently Ac is only to turn on when i pass my third temp threshold or set point.

My room scales from 2 to 8 lights depending on how many cuts are being made and the health of the plants... (and by budget for the given month)

if you use that open relay a square d 9991 ue1 enclosure will make for a nice appearance :peacock:
it is made for that style of relays with the the right mounting screw holes already drilled and taped makes everything simpler and safer

FWIW those boxes are usually found for cheap on ebay
