someone has some skills....nice work guvoo......very nice...mind if I ask what you used to attach the leds to the heat sink? Was it a thermal adhesive or the thermal tape...or silicone??

I don't want to poison this thread but I just want to share part of my experience with DIY LED panels.

This one is the third version I build ( 200 leds - 1w and 3w cheap leds from Ebay ) and I am very satisfied :

hempfield!! DUDE!!! nice build..very nice.........and nice draw on the meter as well...congratulations and keep up the great work.. How long that take to put together?? Also, the same thing I asked Guvoo, what did you use to attach the LED's to the aluminium heat sink? Was it the adhesive, tape or silicone.....or something else entirely?

NICE!!!

The goodies in the box.

Now for a little review of Rapidled.

Everything was packed well.
The shipping was prompt with email notifications.
Emails have been responded to promptly.

Inside the package came a letter that stated, test the leds before you solder them in because we will not honor the warranty if you soldered them already. There was also a led tester included, just have to add 2 AA batteries.

So I will be testing leds tonight and finalizing the layout of the 2 different colors.

By the way, if you own a bluelab guardian and have the segments go out like this, I can give you a part number for a replacement.

Better have expert soldering skills as well!!

subscribed, watching closely. I have been eyeballin the rapidled site for a month. I am undecided on what i want to use. Good luck with your assembly.

Well, I used the led tester and tested all the diodes. The red ones actually hurt a little when tested. The white ones seem about the same as a point and shoot flash.
These things are damn bright!

If these things turn out to be a couple of magnitudes brighter than my existing pro-grows..... I don't know if I should be happy or pissed off.

Umm, what am I missing here?? Couple of magnitudes brighter I would be dancing up a storm and I've had 7 knee operations.. Needless to say I don't dance no more but I'd be thrilled to death..:D

All the best in the assembly........

I'm curious what the led tester is like - could you put up a shot of it for us?

The led tester is just 2 AA batteries in the black holder in the center of the bottom pic.
So it's hitting them with about 3v or less.
whites are being driven at <350ma (I'll be driving them at 1750ma or less at about 3.1-.2v)
reds at >700ma (data sheet says max forward voltage 2.8, 2.2 typical) Hmm, seems the led tester could be a little much with fresh batteries.
With all the above, I'm assuming the data sheet is accurate.

On another note:

I was reading the data sheet and this popped into my mind.
Remember when working with electricity, It can kill you. The output of these drivers are 700ma and 1750ma respectively. Under the right circumstances, 50ma can kill you.

Be safe.

Good point, but the Voltage of your drivers is to low to drive
50mA through a human body.

heya..thanks for the links..very appreciated.. I was doing some reading about the 3M products on the 3M main web site in the pdf's they have.
I was trying to find them locally (Greater Toronto Area) but to no avail so hence, when in doubt..ask at IC..:)

(add info),,,,,,,just found this....http://www.plccenter.com/Buy/3M TAPE DIVISION/8940
seems like a better deal. It's a box of them
