the first thing you should do is use the search button and you'll find many posts already made on the same subject.
good luck. I use hot shot pest strips but never after 2 weeks flower

thanks i already searched it and found some posts but im not familiar with the stuff they used much less where to find it to use it.

these pest strips you speak of where do you get them? and im only 2 weeks into growing, would it be ok to use them now?

and fyi the site search SUCKS ASSHOLES! i hate this sites search function even reading the how to search thread is pointless and still dont help especialy when you using common things and want to search for the whole phrase such as "250w dwc" instead you get 100000000 threads on 250w and another 400000000 threads on dwc....i think this sites search needs more search options the webmaster needs to add some vb modules/recode the search so we can search for keywords or for a phrase.....ok back on topic for bugs go to the cannabis infirmary and read some of the stickys.....

Okay Poot here's what you do. They may not be fungus gnats and gnats attract aphids.
Grab yourself a bug bomb for gnats and flies, and get some Bayer Tree and shrub to treat your root zone.

Whalla problem solved. Hope this helps.

i go to advanced search and check titles only and i only search the area im interested in.
here i used advanced search and only search indoors soil. the search word i used was "gnats" and found these 3 threads
http://www.icmag.com/ic/search.php?searchid=11720796

Gnatrol and Gognats are commercial products sold at most hydro stores.
Hot shot pest strips are about $6 at a local home depot or lowes. I used the pest strips only rarely.i ONLY LEAVE THEM IN A DAY AND I SHUT OFF MY EXHAUST FOR ATLEAST 12 HOURS AND THEY ALL DIE." Do a search on "hot shot pest strips" advanced search titles only and read. Some say too toxic. you make the call

Bingo! Go there now and, without entering a search term, save preferences and from now on, all advanced searches will be by titles only.

A layer of diatomaceous earth is another solution. Tiny, extraordinarily ruff particles allow full flow of air and water but, will rip the gnats exoskeletons apart, killing the gnats you have, any that hatch from eggs already laid and those of any newcomers as well.

thanks for all the help, i think im gonna go with the safer sticky stakes and hope that catches the little winged bastards as well as putting some sand on top the soil to smother any eggs. wish they would go bother someone elses project!

a product called "gnat off" added to every other watering and a few of those yellow sticky strips. Problem solved!
Try to find out where you got the Gnats from though... Maybe cheap soil, maybe from an open window...Who knows.... just remember that prevention is better that action.

I have bug problems and I got, TAKE DOWN garden spray and never had a problem with Bug's again. You can spray right up to the day you harvest. One pint will last you a long time because of how little you use to mix in water and spray.

Them Hot Shot things are no good if you occupy the area at all. It's no good for your pets either. It also as chemicals that cause CANCER, But if nobody hangs out around the area you have it in, it works great for alot of pest.

i agree but i only use them for a few days and YOU MUST TURN EXHAUST OFF for atleast 12 hours a day. I dont leave them in day after day. Ive seen them used in various stores and they really should not. But they are cheap and effective

sounds like sciarid flies(type of fungus gnat) which are very annoying but not too damaging unless heavy infestation. youll see their young as white larvae or pale colored bastards crawling around.these little fellas like to feed on roots and decaying matter. a basic spray for food crops will help control them but youll need to help by covering the soil with foil or add some sand to the top. keep a vacuum around to suck up the buggers also.

once this crop is done, be sure to clean the area with a 5% bleach solution and use fresh new soil that has been steamed or sterilized for bugs.

hope this helps

If what you have is fungus gnats... You should be jumping for joy cuz I found that they are the easiest bugs to control but to each their own.
First off, the gnats are there because you possibly brought them there as they hitchiked on your outdoor clothes or you need to keep a cleaner room. You should really ponder those two points because cleanliness is next to godliness. Secondly, the gnats remain alive likely because you don't let your medium dry out before watering b/c fungus gnats love a moist environment. BUT you don't wanna wait til' your medium is bone dry either cuz that'll stress ur babies. Firstly, I would try an old school organic remedy that my g-ma used back in the day. CINNAMON! You ever try to take down a TBS of that stuff w/o choking? It's powerful stuff and it's probably something you have in your spice cabinet so you don't have to go buy anything. What did humans use to keep bugs away from food before the existence of refigerators??? SPICES. I sprinkled cinnamon on my medium and watered less frequently for about a week and the gnats were successfully wiped out. There were no ill-effects on the babies whatsoever.

If that doesn't work, try some mosquito dunks. Their cheap and they are effective against gnats.

If all else fails, I agree with freezer boy and the diactomous earth.

Hope that helps. Peace, love, and good vibes... DCN

A cheap and effective solution id H2O2 at .5% by volume, flood the pot with water to get them to the surface then drench with peroxide. This needs to be repeated every 3-4 days to break the life cycle and keep them gone. I recommend treating fro 3-4 weeks to ensure all stragglers and any residual larvae are gone. plants can tolerate high concentrations of H2O2 for up to 5 mins with no damage, Gnats cannot.
