The cut from Shabud is the Original Bubba Kush and only real Pre 98 Bubba cut, the problem is with Swerve, as he was using the same name, aka pre98 for the Bubba S1 cut, he was spreading around at the time and that is the cut most have experience with, imo. Even in this thread, you can see some folks growing the original vs the s1s. The bud structure and resin tell the tale. I have had 2 different p98 cuts and Katsu clone in the past, later grew out the S1's and now finally got the original cut. Its the best out of them all, but one of the S1's from CSI got really close in all regards, which brings me to conclusion that this clone might be the same as Caleb has. I will make S1's to explore for sure.
CSI still keeps the Suge cut in his library, with restriction to breed with it though.

Someone already told ya where 'pre98' came from. Ya'll agree it's from FL, but still trust seed shills over a stand-up guy.

Hey everyone, there is a lot of information to take in regarding the BK i'm seeing. I've checked a few of the seed sites I use currently and don't see any pure BK for sale. Does anyone know where to pick up any at or who would have the best representation that you have tried of these different cuts? @VerdantGreen, is there any other places that you supply your seeds at, and you just have the pre98 Bubba K correct? I'm in the US and in a legal state. Just want to try this superb looking strain and need a little direction. Thanks in advance, take care 1

i agree. i seem to remember it being brought up at CC and the answer we got was, some dude from hollywood lol. its been a while so dont quote me. but thats what i remember. The way some breeders are big on source chains, it should be easy to figure out
Hi there. I sell through Real Gorilla but also can deal direct with you. I'm in UK but send to USA regularly and have a very good stealth way of sending which has worked well over the years.
So, when i got my pre98 cut nearly 15 years ago the whole Matt Berger story didn't exist so i can't say much about that ..
except that IF the story is correct and my pre-98 Bubba Kush is actually an S1 in itself, then it would be some 27% more likely to breed true than the 'Original' bubba kush, and this would explain how the S1s of my cut usually come out very close to the Pre-98 i have. AFAIK there was only 1 Bubba Clone in the UK at that time so that avoids a lot of potential confusion/mislabelling that seems to happen in the states.
The Bubba that CSI has looks slightly different from mine and from what i read the S1s have more variation which would make sense if my pre-98 is an S1 of that clone. @Cannavore seemed to broadly agree with this when we chatted about it. Who really knows though.
after selling S1s for 12-13 years i think the results people have got from mine are actually more important than any origin story (i love a good origin story but i tend to take them with a pinch of salt)

I dont think its important where Shabud got his cut from, its the generally accepted opinion about legitimacy of his Bubba Kush clone that matters. There was just one Bubba Kush originally and if Caleb believes this is the one, thats good enough for me. He is called Nspecta for a reason ; ) Btw, Caleb mentioned on the boards, he dont like to call it Pre98 only because it was confused with the "false" cut spread by Swerve. Therefore he rather used "original" moniker in the past.
Years later, I still keep the cut from the first S1 seed I popped from you @VerdantGreen, the mocha coffee berry liquor smell is to die for, topped with great high, I love it.

I’m all for paying homage to our predecessors but also feel it’s important to remember that we are all just people.
When you think about it, our predecessors are the ones who created this layout for source chains as a way to establish legitimacy.
