If you decide to use extension cable(s) make sure that you aren't using cheap-o 18 guage crap. Volts x Amps = Total watt load you can put on the cable. If you are using more than 50' of cable, then your wattage limit decreases, but I can't remember the formula. Cheers!

Personally I think direct burial blows. I live on the West Coast and they haven't used db in my city for about 15 years. I guess I'm just not getting the plus to db. You still have to dig a trench and conduit is not that expensive. Pulling that short of a run would be no sweat. Plus, if something goes wrong and it's db you get to dig again. With conduit you just pull out the old and in with the new. Just my .02.
