Hes not dumping Gale for Jesse hes protecting himself. Gale was getting too good being a chemist and all. Walt knows he will be expendable soon. Plus if he is working with Jesse he can keep him from being busted two birds with 1 stone type thing.
Yeah at that range they both should have been going for headshots, sloppy shooting by both parties. Then, instead of finishing you off, let me go get my axe and waste precious minutes of police response time. LOL.

I think walt delibertly told gale 75 instead of 85 so he could have an excuse to let him go when he f'ed up that batch.
Jesse threatened to knarck me off and the other side of his face would get punched shut, the guys a loose cannon, hopefully he calms down before they have to kill him.
The ax bros were just being the ax bro's I'm suprized then even used guns at all, told u hank would take them out, he's a bad man.

The axe brothers were dumb and looked homo in them suits. He just stands there while a truck drives into him, like he is a Terminator or something who can't be harmed. Their whole style was pretty cool at first, but then you just realise this is completely unrealistic

Absolutely love this show. Exquisitely entertaining.
See, this is what I thought until I talked it over with my old lady. She thinks that Walt dumped Gale because he's getting too buddy-buddy. Watch the episode again: Gale shows up in a pressed blue shirt, just like Walt's on the first day, and says, "This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Walt doesn't want or need anymore friends in this business, he saw how his camaraderie with Jesse messed things up for both of them. I think Walt likes Gale and could be his friend, but at this point he'd rather use Jesse than work with a buddy (plus he knows Gus will knock off Jesse when the work's done).
Anyway, just another opinion......
I think Walt loves Jesse like a son, and wants to help him at his lowest point in the show.
He got rid of the other chemist to help Jesse...
At least in my opinion.

I also believe that Jesse's rant about losing everything once he started cooking with Walt and never wanting to see him again got to Walt. Don't forget, they only started working together because Walt threatend to turn him in if he didn't help him. I think he got rid of Gale, even though he liked him, because Jesse made him feel guilty.
