Made some dry ice hash out of several varieties and the smell came through on the resin. Will be interesting to see if there is much difference in the caps. Will do that later.

When making dry ice hash using the very high density types of flower its even more important to break it up. Some of it may even remain in small chunks after a 1 minute extraction, but thats ok, sift it with the collender and throw it back in with the dry ice.

I though it was helpful to go trough the flower before hand and break it down a little bit and put it in the freezer. Seemed to shatter really well and go to dust at the end with good yield each round. Not necessary to freeze the flower beforehand, but it is more important to use plenty of dry ice with some fresh every time to get a good cold extraction.

The kief is very tastey and is good medicine on its own when topping a pipe with flower. Still keeping the best of the flower for smoke or more capsules over the summer.

Keeping the kief in the refrigerator and have the jars packed with little oxygen. Hoping it will last a long time. i think the flower has a tendency to fade, so this should preserve the medicine better. Will wait to cook the kief into batches of capsules as they are needed so they are somewhat fresh. I guess they store well in the refridgerator anyway. :smoke:

I think these capsules are so effective because they are a full extract. Great way to preserve the terpenes as well as potency when making an edible based medicine. They even have some sublingual activity because its oil based.

Will let you know what a friend of mine thinks of the capsules. Got him some the other day. He is going to get me a bottle of tincture to try.

More kief capsules in the works...

5-6 gram kief decarb at 240F for 40 minutes

Add 1 tablespoon coconut oil

1 teaspoon Fern brand Liquid Soy Lecithin

Bake at 220F for 20 minutes

Freeze

Allow to reach room temperature, stir to mix well.

Bake at 220F for 20 minutes

Fill capsules or use as infused coconut oil in edibles
I like to allow to reach room temperature and stir it up well after freezing before heating the next round at 220F

Just gave my dog half a size OO kief coconut oil capsule. He has arthritis and has fatty tumors. Will let you know how it goes he's about 52 lbs but he's usually 70 lbs. May be a bit high dose, its at night so he'll sleep through it.

Badkat had directions for building tolerance and it said to begin taking them at night to minimize unwanted affects.

High or extended heat can denature (inactivate) Lecithin is the primary reason for the short infusing steps. IME

I've done as short as just 10 minutes on the warming pad and found it to be an adequate infusing, Skipped the freeze and went straight to capsules. Same punch just a bit of a sandy mouth texture.
Doesn't need long to infuse. I was using the "warm zone" on the stove and was just mixing in the decarbed kief and had a little bit splash out when stirring onto the warm zone. The few drops I got to taste seemed like the oil was infused just from sitting on the warm zone for a few seconds!

Great, simple recipe! Thanks for helping to simplify it! Will freeze for 8 hours then complete the infusion this evening for some capsule filling! :smoke:

Was thinking about making dry ice kief later this year after about 60 days cure. I was trying to remember, do you clean the 220 mesh screen for the Hashmaster machine when making kief?

How often do you clean it and how if so?
