Bram's ISO extraction method

So it seems a few of you want to learn how to make iso honey my way. Well, I will set yo guys down the right path to make it. Without further adieu.

What you will need:

99% ISO
Cannabis flowers, resins, or flower trimmings (no fan leaves)
Glass Jars
Glass evaporation dish
Fan
Cooking pot
Unbleached coffee filters (stronger then bleached)

The Process:

1)Take plant matter to be processed, place in jar and tightly seal with lid. Place in freezer along with ISO for 24 hrs.
2)Once everything is extremely well frozen, take it out of the freezer and wash plant product with iso for 2 minutes.
3)Once the 2 minutes is up, filter out the iso asap. Try to get it done in a minute to avoid as much chlorophyl as possible.
4)Place filtered ISO in glass dish to evaporate. Its best to do this outside in the shade (sunlight cause the cannabinoids to degenerate) for safety reasons. You want to put a fan on high over it, and place the dish on a hot plate set on the lowest setting.
5)Now sit back and be patient. IT WILL take quite some time to evaporate and the more you make the longer it takes, but patience always pays off in the end. When the product is no longer liquid, but hard like hash you know that the product is done.
6) Now scrape up your honey hash, place some in your pipe and soar into the next dimension of existence. Or a new level of stoneyness; whichever comes first.

i think you should document each step with pictures next time you make it....for us visual learners!

As I said, I would set you down the right path. Basically, make the oil the way you see every one else doing it, but freeze everything beforehand and use only glass equipment.

Bram, do you grind up the trim before placing it in jars? Also, do you shake the jars with the iso/bud mixture in it to get all the trichomes soaked up or do you just let the buds/shake sit in the iso for 2 minutes ?

no busting up of the plant matter, and as mr. bond says, 'Shaken, not stirred'. Anyone make any ISO honey yet? Its worthwhile even if just using 2 or 3 grams of buds.

I am planning on doing this in the next couple hours, was hoping someone could suggest if I should use a single coffe filter, or should I use 2 of them just in case it rips? I'm not sure if 2 would effect any oil going through the filter.

Hillbillie, that's fucking righteous bro, thanks for showing me all that. Did you filter out the bud in the iso method with a coffee filter? If so....single layer or double?

that iso oil looks alittle overcooked, imo. Still nice looking tho.

J, if your using bleached coffee filters, use a couple. If your using unbleached, you only really need one filter, maybe two at the most.

Whatup bram-
Just wanted to let you know that I did actually make this for the 4th of July. I took roughly a half oz of stems and a little shake that I saved for a couple months. I also added about 5 grams or so of Godsbud. I froze the 99% iso and shook it in the jar for 2 minutes. I strained it through 1 unbleached filter. I drained it into a pyrex dish and set it onto my patio to evaporate in the dry air we have here. Literally, i'd say within 15 hours, it was pretty much completely evaporated. I think I sped it up a little by stirring the mixture once it was down to the end. Anyways, I'm left with a beautiful cherry oil. In a ball it is very dark in color, but in the light, it has such a rich amber hue to it. The smoke is very smooth going in but you let it sit in there and it tears your lungs up. Very hashy on the exhale. Anways, thanks bram so much for the technique and sorry for no pics. I'm gonna do this again soon with pics tho, peace :joint:

J, good to hear that your oil turned out great. Some strains produce a darker oil then others do to having darker trics in the first place. Godbud is one of those strains, having nice amber trics. Also I should note that the Cotton Haze used has been premature do to the grower being impatient and the strain also hermying slightly. With the Godbud in the mix, you shoulda gotten a really cool intense head rush that sent 'shock' running up and down your spine. Gotta love that feeling.

yesterday we decided to make some sour bubble iso using brams method. I used some dried sour bubble budleaf. Once everthing was filtered through the coffe filter it looked liked this

After it all evaperated i scraped up some of the oil and it looks like this.
This was my first time making oil this way. I have tried zepps oil method before. The process was extremely easy and overall it was about an hours worth of work. Hopefully i can give a good report on the oil as i wont be the only member here to smoke it. Peace

To avoid getting chlorophyll while doing large batches like Wreck did, I have found recently that you need to wash no more then about an oz at a time to maintain near zero chlorophylls.

pilfered from Ninja eh bram?

Ive used this method many times now and it is by far the most efficient method for extracting all that yummy goodness from what is essentially unsmokable shit.

I agree with everything you say bram but I'd say 1/4-1/2 per 2 min shake with Iso or hexane. I prefer to run 4 or 5 shakes and then collect all the iso up in one evap dish. Using a smaller amount allows you to really shake it up in there, an oz can get a bit crammed. Although looking at those pics it looks ok, it always looks a little greenish until its evap'd. The thin bits although out of focus look pretty golden yellow

Also the trick to a high quality oil is heat. I never use a stove water boiler, I simply fill the base of the casserole dish with boiling water from the kettle, put the lid with the iso in on top and evap by a window with a fan blowing the fumes out of the window. This is much safer than using an electric stove. Once the ISO is evaped I leave it in off boiling water for another 10 minutes until I can no longer smell alcohol. I then let it cool, it should all then set quite hard on the dish. If its soft it needs another 20 mins evap. To scrape it off I put it back in hot water for a few mins and then it comes off easily.
The key is you need to heat it enough to evap the alcohol but not too much as to mess up the oil and reduce potency.

My oils are always more like hash than oil at room temp. It only when you try and touch it that it starts to melt all over your fingers. They are always like amber, translucent golden yummyness.

Only 2 weeks to harvest of some Nev's Haze Im growing, I cant wait to try the Iso!!

and remember kids
DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE OF EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING. YOU CAN BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN!!!!! FLAMMABLE SOLVENTS ARE VERY VERY DANGEROUS. BE CAREFUL AND NO FLAMES OR SPLIFFS ANYWHERE WHEN YOU DO THIS.

Not the best pic but ala Blue Peter, heres some I made earlier. WWxC99 Iso oil, 100% CDFM oooo yeah

Some nevs haze
