BOXING-Who is the best in your opinion?

You're right and it lost it's popularity to MMA. I don't follow it anymore,it's a big show that always seems to disappoint. I watch old fights all the time, the competition was tight. I still watch the Ali Frazier fights once in a while, the best trilogy and they hated each other so much they almost died .

I was going to say the exact same thing.its all MMA and BJJ now.i was just a kid but I remember ordering PPV for the Holyfield Tyson match.no one saw that coming but Holyfield keeped head butting Tyson and Tyson snapped.still think it's funny

Most underrated heavyweight? The scene in Rocky where he punches the beef hanging in the fridge was taken from him. Joe grew up poor and as a kid was chased by a big hog and he ended up with a broken arm and didn't tell anyone and never got it set and still became world champion.

A boxing thread discussing the best/greatest pound for pound boxers who ever graced the canvas...

No mention of Rocky Marciano, (maybe I missed it) can't think of another boxer who retired undefeated in the heavy weight division..

Roberto Duran ("hands of stone") fights would put the hair standing on the back of my neck..
Every weight division has its own greats..

Maye Usyk the unified champ will make that list sooner rather than later.

Marciano wasn't considered the greatest because he did not have that many fights even though he was undefeated . Moore (light heavyweight)was 42 and Marciano was 32 when they fought . Marciano only held the title for 5 years,Moore held it for 11 years .Archie Moore went 183-23-10 (141 ko's). In another weight division Willie Pep went 229-11-1. Duran went 103-16,he was certainly the best of his class.

Marciano defied a lot for such a small man as the majority of his opponents were much larger and physically stronger. I for one would never discredit him. My old man has the Walcott and Matthews fights on vhs, use to sit by his side for endless amount of hour's while he watched his fights over and over, one of the best fighters and boxers of all time, 15/16 rounds. Do you recall the last 15 round fight? I remember the last 15 rounder in the heavy weight division. (Doesn't feel that long)

My old fella use to wake me up and bring me down stairs to watch many a classic fight (happy times)
Was always a cracking fight across all weights.

Much prefer watching South American bantamweights nowadays.

Oh I agree, I didn't mean to discredit, the guy never lost,he was great, I was just comparing records and fight numbers. . I think Holyfield vs Quawi and Tyson vs Biggs were the last of the "distance" fights for heavyweights. Merry xmas to you and yours. merry xmas to everyone.

For sure man, I know you weren't discrediting him, like myself you enjoy your boxing.
Tyson v Biggs was the last 15 rounder in that division.

Merry Christmas Dime and everybody else from a wind swept Ireland 🎄
