It's a good idea to invest money now, real estate is a good investment. I'm going to look at a house tomorrow, when these houses were built they were close to 200K UK£, the guy selling is asking for 100K, he needs a quick sale so were willing to help out there .

Ireland is riddled with 'ghost estates' basically housing estates that NOBODY lives at, scores of brand new houses that when built had a price of 200K+ lying completely empty because people are not buying!

If your looking to invest IMO you should look into commodities, look at weed for a good example. Ireland has been one of the hardest hit with the orchestrated financial crisis/depression, now bars/nightclubs have quietened down BIG TIME, the streets are dead now and I should know because I live in a busy area in the vicinity of several pubs/bars within 5 seconds walk. But weed is going on a roller coaster ride UP in price. I have a friend that gets 9,000 Euro per Kilo in the south of Ireland and the guys down there can't get enough. I know in the USA things are different because of the legality situation of the cannabis, it's going into a downward spiral in regards to it's value. Now Ireland has a long way to go before we get any proper medical cannabis legislation (A HELL of a way to go) and we are 5 years +/- behind England.

That's what they said about the economy... it's just going to keep going up! Indefinite growth is unsustainable. Gold was at reasonable prices a few years ago. Now people are dumping their money into bonds. I'm not saying precious metals aren't a good investment, but there are better ones.

When I was studying the stock market, I was taught how to valuate a company's stock. Google and Apple are nice solid stocks to invest in, but they're expensive. Not nearly as much room for growth. What I was taught was to find the undervalued companies, and invest in them... Then once their stock comes up to or past actual value, sell.

So, I'm a mid-20-something... I don't need to flip these houses next year or even 5 years from now, and real estate is at rock bottom prices. I don't think the price is going to drop a lot more, but there will be more options due to new waves of foreclosures when the second recession comes. A house can generate money in several ways. Buying in a college town and splitting the rooms up you can easily charge $3-400 a bedroom. Adult Care Facilities make lots of money. You're talking about thousands of dollars a month per person. I'm not worried about taxes and insurance once I have the house. I'll handle it. There's going to be a lot of renters looking for a house to rent once they've lost their home... Less people with credit to buy houses...

Gold is a good hedge... but I'm positioning myself to make money on this deal.

I'm getting U$S 9k dollars a kilo... But that's the thing, is it's not going to last. We're already getting tons of Cali import. It's only a matter of time before our market crashes as well.

When the market for weed crashes, and all I know to do is grow b/c I'm a true grower... Well I guess I'll just have to move to wherever the bud is illegal and live with tons of anxiety to make a buck or two.

Judge: Marijuana act does not protect dispensaries

A local judge has said that Michigan’s Medical Marihuana Act does not provide protection from prosecution of medical marijuana dispensaries.

In a written opinion issued last week, Oakland Circuit Judge Colleen O’Brien granted a motion from prosecutors to preclude defendant Alexander Vlasenko from asserting a defense under the act and mentioning medical marijuana during his trial.

Vlasenko is facing three counts of delivery/manufacture of marijuana. The charges stem from an undercover investigation of a Waterford Township business called Modern Age.

According to O’Brien’s opinion, two members of Oakland County’s Narcotics Enforcement Team went to Modern Age in July 2010 with fake medical marijuana cards that were created at the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. They and a third undercover officer purchased marijuana from Vlasenko.

Prosecutors in the case argued that Vlasenko’s actions do not fall under the protections of the Medical Marihuana Act, and that he had no authority to sell marijuana to the officers even if they truly were registered patients.

The defense said that the prosecution’s argument was unjustified and its position not supported by case law. Vlasenko contends that he is a caregiver.

O’Brien wrote that Vlasenko is not entitled to assert an affirmative defense under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act because “nothing in the MMMA provides for qualifying patients to engage in transfers or deliveries of marijuana to other persons, qualified or not, when the delivery is outside of a caregiver/qualified patient relationship.”

O’Brien said the act prescribes a limited set of circumstances under which people who use marijuana to treat serious medical conditions can avoid prosecution.

“Under defendant’s theory, he would be protected from prosecution under the act simply because he is a caregiver dispensing marijuana to patients with a medical marijuana card,” she wrote. “However, there is no language under the MMMA that provides protection from prosecution to medical marijuana dispensaries.

“The plain language of the provisions of Section 8 clearly evidences the intent of a relationship between a patient and caregiver, not the dispensing of marijuana to the world at large.”

Vlasenko’s attorney, Mitchell Ribitwer, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Oakland County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Paul Walton said the Medical Marihuana Act allows a caregiver to have up to five patients.

“If you’re selling to the general public or anyone who has a card, that’s not lawful,” Walton said. “You’re limited to five people.”

According to the information in O’Brien’s opinion, when the two undercover officers arrived at Modern Age, a woman named Corrina Hamilton asked if they were members of the “club.” They said no.

The officers inquired about membership and said they were medical marijuana patients. Hamilton told them to join, that it would cost $25 annually and $5 every time they showed up. She explained that they could get marijuana from the caregivers who were there at various times, according to O’Brien’s opinion.

Hamilton asked for the officers’ medical marijuana cards. They paid the money and were directed to a back room, where there were couches, a pool table and a TV. Vlasenko was in the room and sold them marijuana, the opinion said.

Back in the front room, the officers talked with Hamilton. She told them about having medical marijuana brownies at the facility and said if they referred a friend, they would get a T-shirt, according to the opinion.

One of the officers called a third officer, who came to Modern Age and also bought marijuana from Vlasenko.

Vlasenko is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 6.

Court records show that Hamilton has also been charged with three counts of delivery/manufacture of marijuana. She has an Oct. 27 trial date.

Defense attorney Neil Rockind, who is not involved in the Vlasenko case but advocates for the rights of medical marijuana patients and caregivers, said the act protects caregivers who provide marijuana for qualified patients. He said at least at first blush, O’Brien’s ruling appears to contrast an Isabella County judge’s ruling in a case involving a facility known as Compassionate Apothecary.

“A caregiver is protected by the act where he or she assists a qualifying patient with the medical use of marijuana,” Rockind said. “The medical use of marijuana does include transfer, acquisition and delivery of marijuana.”

Other cases are pending against a number of people who were charged in raids of medical marijuana dispensaries Clinical Relief in Ferndale and Everybody’s Cafe and Herbal Remedies in Waterford Township.

Michigan voters in 2008 approved a ballot proposal that included physician-approved use of marijuana by registered patients with debilitating medical conditions and allowed registered individuals to grow limited amounts of marijuana for patients.

Medical marijuana has become a hot-button topic. Some say the laws surrounding the use of the substance remain unclear.

ok, here we go Sour Amnesias at 8 weeks... the plants definitely could have got more juice early on, but I didn't want to overdue it... and there were the 2 that the hoses came loose on. I have some clones and hopefully some seeds are developing, so I'll be able to give these genetics another go... Because it is a nice strain.

This one is super frosty, but b/c of the frost maybe ? I can't seem to get a good picture! It just won't focus in my hands.

I think this is an amnesia pheno? What do you think horti? Either way, it's my favorite so far, and I have a clone.

At first I was surprised, cause I was just going about business as usual when all of the sudden the guy is locking the door to the shop and giving me the 411 on the situation...

If they do close the dispensaries permanently... it won't matter not one bit. Every dispensary keeps records of names and number for all the patients AND caregivers... So just b/c they can't have a store front, doesn't mean they won't start running home delivery services.

I can only hope that this happens... b/c my product is superior to most and I can get a higher price with more limited access. The only thing is that it'll involve more work than just going to the pot store... But every state that's medical has dispensaries...

Aye it is BUT we pay a huge price for living here, everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) is more expensive here sometimes by multiples of 3 or 4x.....you can buy a shit hole for $1mill (I kid you not) but , if you look, their are "nice" 3/2's in the $750-850K range on a postage size lot.

Isolated no, I am hour and a half from San Fran, 40 min to Silicon Valley, 60 minutes to the most beautiful coastline in Carmel/Monterey/Pebble Beach, I am 20 minutes though to isolated beaches to the north of Santa Cruz another 10 to a nude beach, although ALL beaches in Santa Cruz are basically "clothing optional" so "hawt college nymphette" watching is a favorite sport around here.

Ann Arbor pot shops raided, others in state close after court ruling

The medical marijuana business in Michigan is in chaos a day after the appeals court issued a major ruling banning patient-to-patient sales.

Police raided two dispensaries in Ann Arbor as scores of other centers kept the doors closed.

Charles Ream, president of A2 Compassionate Health Care Center, said police arrested three employees and confiscated pounds of medicine, thousands of dollars and stacks of patient files.

"It's a spellbinding outrage," Ream said. "We're not doing anything wrong. We don't cause crime. We are only doing good."

Police said the raids were planned long before Wednesday's court ruling.

"These are two separate investigations that have been going on for weeks," said Michigan State Police Lt. Jerry Cooley, who is assigned to the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team. "It has to do with the activities going on there."

LAWNET executed a search warrant at the Liberty Clinic and MedMar A2 Compassionate Health Care, where three men were arrested. They were processed and released pending the prosecutor's authorization of charges, Cooley said.

Meanwhile, most of the 400-500 dispensaries in Michigan stayed closed Thursday, and patients worried about losing access to medicine.

"I'm trying to stay alive," said Michael McShane, a Ferndale resident who uses essential marijuana oil on his skin cancer. "This isn't politics for me. I'm not playing a game. This is the real deal."

Experts are still trying to make sense of the ruling, but some interpreted it to mean that patients can only compensate their caregivers for medicine.

That's a problem, many said, because it takes months to grow one plant and it can become infected with pests, electricity can shut down and other issues that can making it a challenge to rely on one person for a medical supply.

"We're worried," admitted Jamie Lowell of 3rd Coast Compassion Center in Ypsilanti. "But this is not time to be complacent. What's really troubling is all the people whose lives are impacted."
