Question/sugestion: why didn't you mount the leds on the ceil of the cabinet , placing the warm part outside the growbox for more head space ?

Will be very interesting to watch this thread (again).

:tiphat:

I wanted this box to flexible.

My plan was to get the same style recessed lighting in daylight and make a veg bar so I could swap them out. Cutting holes in the top would limit my flexibility in that aspect.

The body of the fixture does get pretty warm, not burn your finger hot, but pretty warm by the end of 12hrs, but overall the cab is really cool. The heat that comes off the fixtures is blown toward the vent, it doesn't really circulate around the cab.

Looks real nice blynx:tiphat:

I equipped a cab of mine with the same lights, 3k about 60 total watts.. done a couple of runs so far they work awesome..... and like you mentioned they can be gotten in town.

Definitely interested in seeing the veg set up, where I'm doing the same....(I have them under LED and cfl bulbs atm ....work really well)

Good luck and karma!

Cool, you should post some pics of your setup!

I'm still on the fence about vegging with LEDs, I really like daylight cfls.

Here's a coupe pics of the lights.
Been try several different types, all seem to do the job. I like the recessed lights that have the pig tail plugs better for my cab. I have them hanging each on there own so I can adjust to liking.
My cab is 22" x 24" x 46" tall.. so my plan is to add a total of 6, side by side..........
O O O
O O O
I think I might mount them together as pairs so I may adjust up or down where I run several plant in the cab at once at different flowering times...... some are just starting while others are finishing.

I'm tweeting thing as I go along, from what I've been seeing and as I look through my crystal ball lol.... I could see getting gram per watt with out pushing to hard.

These are 9.5 watts 800 lumens...
So far most are 3k 10 watts, but I have been looking into daylights to add in as well..

Where do you find the higher watt ones?? @ the big box stores? I been buying mine when they go on clearance at around 15$ I would imagine that yours are a little more tho.

Once I tighten things up a bit and have it all together I with get some better pics.

This thread is Epic, I couldn't stop reading it. In your new LED cab, are you using a 4" in line fan at the top like your one square foot cab?

Kinda lol.

The one square foot cab used 4" inline fan that blew air into a homemade carbon scrubber I made following Durban Poison's guide.

This cab has a 'sandwich style' scrubber (like my 11"x11" cfl cab) that fits into a piece of ducting that has a 4" cheap inline booster fan at the other end pulling air from the cab up through the scrubber.

Are you still mixing perlite into your compost with those small tubs? Or is that some premixed something or other you are using?

Pretty much the same mix I've been using for a while now.

It's a 50-50 mix of new and used soil.

The new soil is a 3:1:1 mix of Promix:EWC:perlite. I use this mix for rooted cuts.

When a plant is done being trimmed, I run the rootball over a 1/2" hardware cloth screen to break the soil/roots up. Small pieces of root do make it through the screen, but I also end up with a larger mass includes the plant stump, oasis cube and roots. I throw that away. I then add some Biotone to the used soil and mix it up.

I have a tub that I mix the 50-50 (old-new) soil in and use that when transplanting from 3" to 6" containers and when transplanting from 6" to 3 gal for flowering.

The plants are mostly fed water. I do occasionally give them a little Age Old Bloom.
