I like the way this method adds the small pieces of root back into the soil. It's doing two things. First it's adding organic material to the soil and second it's adding an existing microherd back to the soil quickly.
I then stir up and turn the soil over so the recently screened soil and older soil and Biotone are all mixed together.

This tub sits until I need to transplant something from 3" to 6" pot or 6" to 3gal pot. At that point this 'old soil' is used 50-50 with 'new soil' (promix/ewc/perlite).
