I'm new to SCROG but understand the concept, sort of. When exactly do you start using the screen? One article said to place it like 8" above the plants as you switch to 12/12, and get the buds to grow up through the screens. But, another article says SCROG is started in veg, and you just let them grow up against the screen, and you take the ones that went up through and keep threading them back down underneath the screen. Is there a good article on this? Also, it seems like if you have to keep the plants in veg under the screen to build up the plants, you'd have to keep them in veg for a really long time? I need a tutuorial on this

i think i get it..you have to keep wrapping the tops back underneath the screen and veg it for a real long time...by the way how long was that one vegged? Also, very confusing, as the first pics have 4 plants in the chamber, and this only has one in the SCROG and it looks like it's 4 months old or osmething. I want to do a SCROG with like 4 plants...but I've never really sexed plants and SCROG would be a waste of time and energy if you didn't know the plants were female. So I guess I'd have to sex them early since it will be from seed. Confused. What's the best way to sex if I'm going to SCROG? When should I wait to give them 12/12 to see their sex?

So I finished going through this thread and I am simply blown away. Beginning to end, top to bottom, this is some top-shelf stuff! Thanks again for giving me some ideas on my future cab grow.

You've inspired me to think about a scrog grow, although I'm guessing I would have to incorporate that after my first run as I will be starting from seed??? Ya know to make sure they are female.

h20 blynx runs 2 cabs, the scrog cab and another smaller one, I think 11x11 if I'm not mistaken, he runs the 4 plants in the smaller cab

SCROG is simply training a plant to grow under/through a screen.

How you do that is up to you. IMO, as long as you are producing bud, there is no right or wrong way to do it.

You can put the screen in right away, put some small plants under the screen and then let the plants grow up to it.

You can put a large plant under a screen, train it and flower immediately.

You veg for as long as it takes the canopy to fill the screen. How filled that screen gets is up to you.

IIRC, the White Russian currently in the SCROG was vegged for 7 weeks IN the SCROG.

The amount of plants you SCROG is up to you.

Each strain is going to behave differently in a SCROG, but you won't know how until you actually try the different strains in the SCROG.

I would use sexed plants/clones so you aren't wasting time training a male you will have to remove.

I think the quickest way to sex a new plant is to veg it long enough so that it shows pre-flowers. Once the preflowers show, I'd pull the males, take cuts from the females and put the seedling in the scrog to start training.

Go for it and give it a try.

The white russian is looking good man. Very similar to the williamsburg haze at this point.

I was wondering, how much smoke do you get through in say 1 month?

A friend recently gave me 7 grams of some nice sour diesel and its lasted me just under three weeks!

If you take that figure, it means that I'd get through (I'll round it up for the sake of estimation) about 1/2 an ounce a month. If I could achieve the same as you did with the williamsburg haze then that would last me about 4 months, ample time to run another scrog.

With all of the cabs you have, do you find you have an excess (just for yourself)?

The cabs keep me in smoke and give me a nice variety to choose from.

One of the biggest reasons for doing this thread is to show people that if you aren't a big smoker, you really don't need a lot of room to keep yourself in smoke. IMO, CFLs work great in that aspect.

i guess pruning a few leaves off to expose the bud sites is wasted energy since the buds will grow anyway ? have you experimented ? either way looks killer !

I do remove the occasional fan leaf that is blocking a nice bud, but for the most part I just leave the plant alone.
