Blunt Africa - DWC - Blue Mystic - Satori - Cindy99

Hi All

Been a while since I did a grow here on IC, so I thought I'd share my latest go with you.

Today I'll be growing Satori, Blue Mystic and a Fem Cindy99.

I've germed 4 each of he Satori and Blue Mystic, the C99 just one as I know that it is a female. All of them I germed in soil with the intention of transplanting them to the hydro setup.

My setup will be 2 25L containers for the Satori and Blue Mystic, the C99 will get her own 9L bucket. I'll be using GH 3 part series nutes running at about 50% recommended strength throughout the grow. No EC meter here just PH adjustment.

My cab measures 1.2m wide, 1.8m high and 60cm deep. I'll be using about 90cm of the width for the grow. Light wise I've got a 400W Sunmaster HPS and reflector, exhaust is a 200cfm fan with a carbon air filter. I'll post pics later after the lights come on.

Here is a pic of one of the 25L bubblers. It'll hold 4 plants for the moment.

Here is a pic of the Blue Mystic. The Satori I've already put into their bubbler.

I gently tipped the seedling out and gently cleaned off the soil from the roots. These then went into the small round pots and, with their roots poking out the bottom of the pot, hydroton added. Simply pop the pots into the bubbler and the job is done!

The C99 is still very small so I'll let her grow a bit before putting her into her bubbler. Besides, her bubbler is currently occupied by a very nice Fem Grapefruit coming to the end of bloom.

The Blue Mystic I then put into an old mini cab with 70W HPS and some CFL, they will stay in there for a week or so on 24/0. After that they'll go into the main cab with the lights on 12/12. I've had success with 12/12 from seed with soil and want to see the results in a bubbler setup.

Should be interesting. I'll take pics of my cab later and post them for you to have a look at.

Hey Africa nice choice of plants u got there!will keep my eye on this thread ,good luck! And i was using DWC 50 litre for 4 clones, and general hydroponics nutes 3 part, only i ditched the grow part and went on Lucas formula only micro and bloom.I must say i was impressed with my first grow on hydro.I was using 250 mh lamp for veg and 400 hps for bloom.from only 1 female i got 160 g dry of kc33x skunk and had no sickness or defficiencies.
That was plant from seed and in a 12 litre bucket. :dueling:

WOW! Looks like a stonker there bad!! I kinda run off the Lucas formula when I'm growing hydro, mostly micro and bloom.

Nice one

Hi All

Here are some pics of my cab

Here you can see my two bubblers with the satori and the blue mystic. The plant over them is a very juicy looking grapefruit. This is my first bubbler attempt and I'm very pleased so far...

picture is a carp, I'll try get some better ones and post 'em up.
Anyways, she's not got long to go, I'm gonna start with GH Ripen now and then giver her the chop just after her pistils start going red, about a week or so away.

The Cindy99 will then go in here to do her thang...

Hi All

Just a quick update for you. The BM seems to have taken well to the bubbler with the Satori thudering ahead with some super growth. I'm beginning to wonder how big these guys/girls will be growing in the setup.

I'm also thinking about when th etime comes to separate the girls from the guys. From my experience of growing 12/12 from seed (soil) the first pistils only appeared about 4 weeks into the grow. This is mucho time for the roots to flourish in the bubbler and to get tangled with each other. I already have noted that the satori roots are getting entwined and require separating every few days.

What the word out there regarding this issue? I'll probably have to break a few roots to separate the girls from the guys which means that these girls left may have some dead roots attached to them when they go back into their bubblers...

Come y'all, share your wisdom!!!

Pics will follow!

Here are the Satori, this pictures was taken about 3/4 days ago.

I'll take som emore pictures of them later so that you can see the difference

Hi All

Here's a quick update fo ya.

As I mentioned in my last post that the Satori and BM and moving along nicely. First up here is a group shot taken this morning just before the lights went out.

Now the Satori has really started to bush out and is growing some big fat leaves, looks like an Indica. Anyone know if there is a strong Indica pheno in Satori?
Satori now

Same Satori a week ago

Next up is the blue mystic which I put into the bubbler just over a week ago.
they have not grown at the same rate as the Satori because they had to contend with the transplant whilst the Satori has already gone through that phase.

BM just after transplant

Here they are this morning

There has been a bit of growth for the BM over the past week, but I'm expecting real growth to start now!!!

The Grapefruit in the background of the group shot is gonna get the chop today or tomorrow, her trichs are about 30% brown now and since I like the up high I think her time has come!

High Blunt Africa

I wouldn't try to pull too many roots out of there, as you could really do some damage to the others....I would just remove the stuff that comes out and seperates easily....instead (if you can find some)...I'd strongly recommend ENZYMES....enzymes breakdown dead plant matter and also breakdown salts...making them absorbable and useful to the plant(s).... :2cents:

You're off to a much better start this time....can't wait to see the c99 bloom ....lookin' good....keep it up!

peace

Hey thanks for stopping by there VT, and thanks for the advice.

I'm periodically separating the roots from each so hopefully when the time comes to remove the guys I won't have too much trouble....

Hey all

Wow!! The responses to my thread are staggering!! I guess everyone is out there enjoying the summer sunshine!! :chin:

Anyways, here is an update for ya.

Here is pic taken this morning of my cab

You can see that the Satori is going great guns at the moment, the 2 on the right are starting to overgrow the 2 on the left.

Also look at the size of those leaves!! Satori is supposed to be Sativa dominant but those leaves are looking very Indica to me! This has created a doubt in my mind over whether I got the BM and the Sat mixed up. We will have to wait and see, I'm sure that once the supposed BM grow a bit then I'll be able to tell which is which.

Also you will notice that the Grapefruit I had growing in the background is gone. The reason is that she was done flowring and so I gave her the chop. Timing was just right methinks with her pistils just about 50% brown, I have a bad habit of harvesting about a week or two later than I should, so this time round I decided to harvest a week earlier and I think I made the right decision.

Here are some pics for you.

I though she'd yield a heap but she is only 80G wet which should give me around 20g dry. Not bad for my first bubbler ever, especially using a plant that was ailing in soil and was scrawny as f*%k.

In her stead in photo is the Cindy99. She only popped about 5 days after the BM & Satori so she is a bit behind in the growth stakes. What I'll do is keep her in soil for the next 2 weeks or so under 24/0 so she can get some growth under her. That might also be enough time for the females to show themselves in the Satori and Blue Mystic, I'll need to find out asap cause at the rate these guys are growing I ain't gonna have a space to fart in my cab, let alone grow the c99!!

Come on guys and girls, if you are following this thread then let me know!!! playing with myself is fine but it's always much more fun if you ain't on your own!!

Have you considered rotating those Satori's? They sure are taking off from the other two...I prefer DWC runs from clone...not seed....

Nice harvest! 20g dry for the first bubbler is awesome man  My first few runs...I harvested 0g :biglaugh: Count your blessings and give us a smoke report....nice update bro

peace

Thanks VT

I've already switched the Satori around so the smaller ones are more under the light than the bigger ones, so that's sorted.

I'm just hoping now that the males and females don't take too long to show themselves otherwise I'm gonna have a jungle growing in there!!!

Hi All

Guess what? Over the weekend there was a lot of action with my little peeps. Out of the 8 I can confirm that so far I have 3 males and 2 females!!!!

The Blue Mystic have shown their colours first with 3 of them being male!!! Assholes!! The 3 tallest have all starting making balls.

Here is a closeup of one , you can see the telltale group of balls right at the top of the plant...

Now 3 of the BM have got these little clusters on 'em. The fourth and smallest of the lot has not yet shown whether it is a dude or chick, not long to wait though I reckon.

The Satori is in a different boat. The two largest have got pistils poking out the tope of them which I'm pleased about. Bigger plants means bigger yields, the two shorter have yet to show.

Here now is a shot of the Cindy99

I planted her at the same time as the BM and Satori, and you can see how small she is compared to the others. So much smaller that I've decided to give her a boost for a week or two at 24/0 light. I'll need her to grow a bit bigger before I put her into a bubbler, I've only got a few of these fem C99 seeds so want to realise reasonable smoke quantity out of them.

I've also chopped and trimmed the Grapefruit I was growing. I got 80g wet out of her, which I reckon should turn out to be around 15 to 20g dry. Can't wait to give her a try, the Fem GF has always been a good smoke for me...

Will do a mini smoke test probably next week or so.

Hey man, out of 10 Blue Mystic seeds, I only got 7 or 8 plants, and out of those I only got one female! I've heard other people have had similar problem with germing and male/female ratio's with blue mystic.

Good luck on that last one! My last seed was my female :)

Thanks Is1

I ain't too happy to hear what you've just said. Out of the 4 BM I've got 3 are male and I've just confirmed that the last one is a female. The only problem is that she is the smallest of the lot.

What I might do is put her into a bubbler with the C99 is give them a longer stretch on 24/0 in my minicab. She'll probably be a bit stressed out from going 12/12 to 24/0, but I'd prefer to have a bigger yield in the long run.

There are definitely 2 female satori's there and they are the gonna be big girls by the looks of them. I had to trim off some of the fan leaves cause they were blocking out too much light, the blades of the leaves were over 2 inches wide with one fan leaf covering my entire hand.

I'm still wondering if the Satori are actually the Blue Mystic cause the Satori's leaves are twice as wide as the BM. I'm sure that once floweriung is underway that I'll find out.

I've removed the males now from the Blue Mystic gang and still waiting for the other 2 Satori to show their colours. The 2 female satori's I've got are gonna go into a 50L DWC over the weekend for flowering...

Hi all

I've just prepped up my new DWC for the 2 satoris. I said it was a 50L but it turns out it's actually a 40L, plenty I'm sure.

For nutes Ive added about 2 thirds recommended strength of GH Bloom and Micro (40ml Bloom and 30ml Micro). I'm hoping to only to do a water/nute change maybe 2 more times before harvest, between each change I'll top-up once with PH adjusted water only.

The small BM will go into my minicab, with the C99 which I'll change over to hydro tonight.

The other 2 Satori will stay in their current spots until they show sex. I'll probably not keep them anyways as I'm planning on growing 4 plants now under the light (2 Satori, 1 BM, 1 C99). The 2 female Satori's I have are twice the size of the 2 unsexed ones so it make sense to keep these ones.

The lights are about to come on, I'll take some snaps and post 'em later.

Thanks Rule

How did you find the C99 to grow? I've heard she can stretch and that she can get very nice frosty buds!

Here's the latest pics pics for you all

So I spent a bit of time with my gang last night getting things sorted. The first thing I did was to get the C99 and BM under some 24/0 light.

Here's the C99

and Blue Mystic

You can see that they are both still quite small compared to the size of the Satori. The BM went into it's bubbler about a week after the Satori which is why she is smaller, the thing is that she is a LOT smaller, the 3 male BM that I took out of the bubbler were 2 - 3 times her size. I'm wondering if she was not getting enough bubbles on her roots from the airstone. Seems to me that those greedy males hogged it all.

Anyways, I put the C99 into the bubbler with the BM and then put these girls into my minicab that's got a 70W HPS and a heap of CFL. I'll keep them in here for 10 - 14 days under 24/0 so they can bulk up a bit before going under the 400W HPS. I'm hoping that I won't have any hermie issues with the BM though cause' she's been under 12/12 for weeks with the rest of the gang.
Here they are now, C99 at front, Blue Mystic at back.

Next up I split the Satori, with the 2 girls... (on the right hand side)

going into a 40L DWC, in here I also have a 30cm airstone which needs a dual output airpump to function 100%, these girls aint gonna be starved of O2

You can see that the girl on the left has had a bit of stretch on her.

Here's a final shot of my flower cab

On the left is the 2 female Satori's in their new DWC, on the right is the 2 remaining Satori's in their original DWC. I'm watitng for these 2 to show their colours but I've got a funny feeling that they are gonna be females. I should find out in the next few days...

The sun is shining nicely here in South Africa today :sasmokin: and I'm gonna be out there enjoying it, maybe I'll try out some of that Grapefruit and let you all know how it goes :joint:
