Blumat auto watering

Just found this thread, awesome info:tiphat:

I’m running Maxi’s outdoor, only have 1 per plant, but I also flood with irrigation water once a week to ten days.

Using a 100 gallon stock tank about 3 foot off the ground.

Had a problem with the brown hoses sticking shut at the valve, but after replacing it they work great.:good:

Is anyone running a pressure reducer off a Reverse Osmosis system? My city will be using chloramine disinfecting in the future and I am wondering if I can attach my Blumat pressure reducer right at the RO systems output and leave it on all the time. Or do RO systems work in a way that this is not possible? Ive never had to use a RO filter to remove cloramine.

I might try it without dd emitters and try three or four sensors to begin with. It's funny that these things are specifically designed for outdoor use, yet there isn't a lot of info for this application. Obviously, these things have tremendous potential for outdoor/guerilla grows.

Just be sure to use excellent filtration, IE foam and pantyhose. Or whatever works.

Lost my instructions...smh.....set up my 15 gallon rez,2ft off the ground,soaked the cones and put the cap on,put them into the already soaked coco,got the hoses hooked up,plugged it into the rez and let the water come out the end before I plugged it with the stop cap,turned each blumat open 1 full turn...gunna check back tonight and see how its goin.

When first installed, it should not be dripping. The drop should just hang there. It sounds like your blumat was functioning properly, and because you moved it up, it may have lost some contact with the media, and is dripping more freely now.

There should be no problem having them deep in the media. You want them deep. I push mine all the way down till just the cap is visible. Sometimes the rootball is too dense to do so :biggrin:

2 feet height seems really low too. I keep both my reservoirs at min of 4 feet.

Blumats are working for me in Turface mixed with Perlite. They keep my 5 gallons heavy and my plants really seem to like them. Thanks again to all the helpful folks in this thread. I'll be documenting my first grow with them here.

I got them set to where its dripping 1 drop every 30 seconds...gunna be fun tryin to fine tune it lol

IME counting drops is not the way to adjust blumats ........ it is a good way to drive yourself crazy though

i hand water the pots until run off, wait a day, and then dial the blumats to a clinging drop. after that it is about micro adjustment and walking away to let the blumat do it's thing.

constantly tweeking them just caused me headaches

doing what the instructions say and doing what other members do solved the problem

Yea ima leave them how they are for a few days and see how soaked the pot stays...the coco wasn't fully soaked yesterday when I set them up...and the hose was pinched.shut that's why the water wasn't comin out

^^^^^the hose has been pinched closed by the blumat on every single one that i have when they were new. once you open that spot and run water through it it won't happen again. that 3mm line is some pretty cool stuff

I gave these things a shot and they were very simple to set up but a pain in the ass to troubleshoot. I would keep my coco damp but no matter how many times i dialed those things in, they would not drip when they needed to.

If you're having trouble, then you're not setting them up right. I don't use these in my grow, but on my porch, they have a home, and it was easy as pie to set these up. Maybe I'm just good at things, but I had no issues what so ever.

Fill a bowl with water, unscrew caps, and soak for a day. Screw caps on while in the bowl of water, insert into media, hook lines up, open the valve till a stream come out. You then slowly close the valve on top until a drop hangs, and you're done.

Don't be a silly stoner, LEAVE IT ALONE!! Don't stare and watch, just back off. It works.
