i just checked, and you know what? the official bluelab replacement probes are actually INLINE with what a cheap gel electrode costs.

i have to say... major props to bluelab for not going the rout of ALOT of these sketchy ass hydro companies charging out the ass for OEM consumables.

BlueLab out for delivery, should be here anytime.:)

It just showed up. First thoughts. The unit looks nice plastic is the same old cheap stuff you see evrything made out of. . You can feel it in the wall plug unit. The probe came in a box with the cap on but was not pushed down into the small amount of solution, and I figured out why the tip of the probe is the same cheap plastic and the end was flared out either from someone trying to force it into the storage cap. Hooked it up and it goes on kind of hard and the same taking it back of even harder im sure it will get better with a few times on and off. But it wont be coming off till it die's now. One thing im upset about the box show's it with what looks like to me is a removable EC/temp probe but it's not so hope it donr fail. Other wise the unit will need to go back for service. Sure would of been nice with both probes removable. Well going to go give it a try.

I've wondered about that too, re: EC probe replacement. Never got around to contacting them, but assume there is some way to replace it. The compression fitting is only to hold the wire steady, assuming to protect the pin connection inside.

I would test that very thoroughly against drops/paper for a week or two. Maybe give Bluelab a ring and see what their response is.

Maybe it's so rock solid they dont have trouble with them? It has an ec solution I can test it against. I didnt even calibrate or hydrate yet . Figured I would get it out and see what it would do. It says in the directions they are both set but Im going to do a check on both after cleaning and maybe hydrating the probe. All in all so far it grabs right on to the ph I think I like it. The suction cup is kind of hard funny mix of plastic/rubber maybe they made it that way so we smash the probes up, LOL good for sale's.

most cheap conductivity sensors are simple k=1 constant titanium or stainless electrodes.

you can find gobs of them elsewhere if the bluelab model does not fit to your liking.

get on ebay and search for rosemount + conductivity

most of those suction cups are worthless.

I found a good one!! Sifting through some of the stuff I had laying a round. I had purchased a air bubbler abot 12in long round green in color. from Walmart. It had a suction cup that I thought I would never use , but it is good and rubbery and it sticks very well. I dont know if they sell it by it self. You dont have to slide it on like the original. it clips on which make's it easy on or off. I can go from a 5 gallon bucket to dropping it in a gallon in a matter of seconds. And you dont have to worry about smashing the glass of the probe to get it to stick to the bucket or REZ. And it stays on the bucket when releasing the probe to measure stuff in other jugs or buckets. Funny the one place you would think would sell the cheapist of cheap actually has a decent 10 cent item!

I dont think I never said one bad thing about the probe. it works well ! All though after I bought it and got it home my Bro says his friend with the Despencery said he has 2 bluelab units that are as he put it( JUNK) and if he would have known he would have gave me both! I told him that's because your lazy friend isnt cleaning isnt buffering them. They are just plain lazy! @ least I hope that is the only reason's they are not working for him. Better go knock on wood!!

hes probably just not familiar with ph probes.

ill reiterate. PH probes WILL ALWAYS fail. without exception.

they are not like old merc disel motors... where proper care and attention can make them last half a century.
they are very similar to disposable batteries, they will all fail at somepoint, hence the need for affordable replaceable probes that have not been sitting on a shelf for 5 years.

I figured i would start a thread on The Bluelab Gaurdian. As I searched and only got one hit with not much value to it. I purchased one and should have it in a week. So im sure i will have questions about it . Anyone have one and would like to post you thoughts and experiences with using it. Thank's UC
