thanks guys, mine were wonderful to smoke - it's a pleasure to drop a calyx or two into a pipe and burn it up
mine were a kind of 'woody' berry smell.. @numide had one and it wasn't very berry afair
i don't think the trait is really linked to any particular terp profile, or it doesn't seem so atm.

and thanks @JustGrowing420 i will be interested to see what you think smoke-wise.

Some dry pics, need to keep an eye when drying these phenos as they go from moist to crumbly in a blink lol

Lemon pez candy very very familiar smell
bdb lemon.jpg

Other pheno totally sweet blueberry with some woody/sour notes

I believe these are more energetic and clear than the normal pheno I had, they have in common the positive enjoyable high but no crash at all. Lemon pheno slightly more potent.
Still need to smoke more

Also in conjuction with what @Sub24ox7 posted above regarding taking them really ripe, I must say that I noticed the most drastic changes in the last week, so maybe harvesting just a bit underripe makes the smells more woody... I'm loving mine!

I'm digging the love for these phenos! so good to get feedback on them. I just dug out a jar of one of the wispy phenos i had and dropped a few pearls into my pipe.. the smell has evolved to be a quite distinctive blackcurrent smell alongside woody notes.. and yes the high is really clear and uplifting... and i love to tricomes on all the stems!
I'm still not convinced there is any strong link between the terp profile and the structure.. i even wonder if the pearls might just burn more evenly and efficiently because of their shape/surface area !
I think this 'pearl' trait has also transferred into crosses too. The BlueDigiRhino was made with the same F2 pollen that i used for the BDB F3s and look at these pics. i can see a likeness of the wispy pheno in this plant that was one of 4 i grew.

hi all , here are a few pics of my Blueberry mum, which i haven't run for a while (i kind of love the bit of skunk/chem in my BDB cut lol) , this was the mother of BlueDigiBerry and what i recently bx'd to and @Sub24ox7 posted pics of in this thread.
It was from a Dutch Passion Fem BB seed sometime around 2008
at 25 days, quite a narrow leaf expression.

hi, perhaps a bit more... i'm not sure what 'normal' EC is but they would probably want that or a bit less.

I read through the entire thread and really enjoyed what I saw. You guys are all killing it. So stoked that you all got to experience some of the digi terps. She really is a special girl. I'll stop back by with a recent picture of the queen in all her drippy glory. Until then just know this. Blueberry cruffin reversed pollen inbound! It's gonna be EPIC!

wow @JustGrowing420 those are superbly finished and stunning for sure !

and whilst they look cool AF... i'm not convinced that this 'pearl' or 'wispy' pheno is a desirable trait. Perhaps if it was really rare, one in twenty then ok but i think it's more like one in 5 or 10...
I will have to make more seeds soon - and i think i'm going to pop more F2s ( i think i have them) and make more F3s, i think i can select against this a bit harder because, with hindsight, i reckon i can identify the beginnings of this happening in some plants.

That said, this is just my opinion so if you disagree or agree then speak up for those phenos and tell me why!

cheers

Pearl on a string pheno is awesome. So much so that I received these seeds to deliberately hunt for it. The very specific “weeping willow” type seems to have a little more yield than other pearl types and I love how it looks. I think theres a lot of beautiful potential in pearly weed for those willing to select for their improvement rather than knock them out of the ring entirely.

Hey thanks for chiming in on that @Low.Poly it's always good to hear people's views on this... hard to say how many of these pearl phenos in a 12 pack of seeds but i would say maybe 2 or 3 on average.
it seems like a 'progressive' trait to me.. in that i think i could see the beginnings of some bud 'elongation' in some of the F2s.. a bit like the BDR, but until i saw the pearl phenos in the F3s i didn't make the connection.. or at least i think that is the case i'm going to looks at some more F2s in the spring. i may be wrong.
I think if it could be 'isolated' and developed like you suggest then that would be very cool, let us know how you get on..

Hey VG, my two Bluedigiberries are doing fine. One male I've been using to seed all sorts in my current grow (Erdpurt x Bluedigiberry; Purple Bud x Blueberry x BDB; Sour Diesel Auto x BDB; Blue Cindy 99 x BDB) - interesting pheno. Narrower leaves, chunky globular flowers and a real stink to it.

Also one female with broader leaves, hungrier and slower to start flowering, but looks promising. Will also pollenate her once buds a bit more developed. Both had some initial leaf distortions but both grew out of it. Will post pics when I have a moment.

Thanks for the update @aliceklar , sounds like a nice male.. it's great that the BDB can smell of both Berry and Burnt rubber in veg - makes for easy selection. The female sounds interesting.. My BB mother of the BDB has a very sluggish flowering response. seems to just carry on growing and ignore 12/12 completely for a week or two .

Yeah, the BDB female did exactly that - whilst everything else was budding up, she just kept vegging for 2 weeks more... Interesting to see the family traits passed on. The smell on the male was surprising. I washed my hands after collecting pollen (as you do) and could *still* smell it on my fingers. Pungent.
