That's a great price for a digital cycle timer. Haven't needed to use one for quite a few years, but the damn analog ones were $80 back then.
i have paid as much as 250 dollars for a dedicated repeat cycle timer from Blueprint.

these cheap little timers can do any timing cycle you want, not just repeat cycles, but also lights, fans, or anything else on any schedule.

they've been very reliable and have backup memory so if the power goes out you don't have to reset them.

they are rated for 15 amps but if you have a bunch of lights you can use these 120v timers to trigger 240v relays.

i have used these for years; https://www.automationdirect.com/ad...ers/electro-mechanical_relays/ad-pr40-2a-120a

these are rated for 600v at up to 40 amps and use a 120v solenoid so you could use one of the cheap 120v timers to fire up to 10 240volt 1000watt lights

today is the end of week 3 of flower and 6 weeks from the transplant into the system.

reservoir condidtions are 1000ppm or ec2 and ph is 6.2. water temp is 73f.

i've done most of the training and thinning. tomorrow i'll change the bulbs from 5000k to 2700k and add 6 25 watt incandescents.
Very nice update, looking very healthy.

Would you be able to make mankind (growkind?) a huge favour and documenting the incandescent buds with photos in every update? Ive heard of a fair few throwing in incandescents in a led grow with good results but ive never actually seen good documentation.
What would it look like? Choose two colas/tops; one from right underneath an incandescent, another one as far away from all the incandescents as possible and shoot a little snap of each with every update? It you label the tops you wont forget which ones which and not have to do anything more than snap and upload as the photo would be self explanatory. Or no labels and just mention which is which. Pretty please? Might have to do this this winter and it would be great to know what to expect.

it would be impossible to do under these conditions because i could not isolate a flower. there are only 2 plants and the incandescents are spread out evenly over each canopy. six 25 watt bulbs over each.

and the light overlaps both canopies somewhat.

also, i believe the effect causes a hormonal response that is probably routed throughout the plant internally.

the only valid way would be to isolate two plants and use incandescent on one and not the other.

Nice, kinda funny, after my post I stopped by the local grow shop to grab a couple of things and walked out with these freebies. Not sure what FX1 is, but happy none the less.

Fx1 is Djs parental selection leaning toward blue heaven phenotype. Narrow leaf. Tall blueberry sativa with anti anxiety properties. Unfortunately the cross was somewhat unstable so we never released it publicly, just as freebies. The other cross was a back cross to blueberry mother, which I'd hoped to enhance the blueberry profile, yet this cross went toward the oaxacan parentage.

update time again! end of week 4 of flower. just a few pics to show progress.

light at 1200 umols for 12 hours. approx 50-52 mols per period. lights on room temp 82f at 55% rh

reservoir 1050 ppm at ph 6.0 temp 78f.

here are the last pics of this grow. we are at a little over 10 weeks of flower. for those interested in how this grow was conducted i just wrote a description for the led and bud quality thread. so, i'll just repeat it here.

there are 72 bulb positions on this light. during veg and up to the end of week 3 of flower i ran them all using 5000k light. that is 1008 watts using 14-watt bulbs. there were two lights in the room so i used 2 six-hour periods in veg. one on and one off all the time. maintained about 1200 umols ppfd for a DLI of approximately 50-52 moles per day. using one light on and one off also kept the temperature and rh more consistent

at the end of the third week of flower i switched to 66 14-watt 2700k bulbs and 6 25-watt tungsten incandescent appliance bulbs. 924 watts led and 150 watts incandescent for a total of 1074 watts.

also, i maintained about 1200 umols ppfd for a single 12-hour period for a DLI of 50-52 per day.

i used jack's 3-2-1 ratio but at different overall strengths. all input, no solution was removed from the system during the entire grow. the first two weeks i used the 3.6-2.4-1.2 grams per gal dose.

the rest of veg up through the end of week 3 of flower, the stretch period, i used 3-2-1 grams per gallon.

the rest of the flowering period i used 2.4-1.6-.08 grams per gallon. the last 10 days ph adjusted water only.

ph was maintained at between 6.0 and 6.5 using 85% phosphoric acid.

lights on temps typically 80-84f and lights off in flower 72-75f.

no co2 was supplemented here but my co2 monitor says that i got over 400 ppm throughout the grow.

i got 6978 grams of untrimmed wet flowers from 2 plants. I like measuring the wet weight anyway so i can monitor the dry down more accurately.

these were grown in a recirculating, closed-loop, soilless system known as the PPK using 6 gals of #2 perlite as the main body of the medium amended with 3 lbs worm castings and one 18 oz solo cup full of diatomaceous earth.

in the nutrient solution, with each 30 gal load mixed, i used 30ml of mr fulvic 1ml per gallon, and a heaping teaspoon of maxicrop kelp powder per 30 gals.

i think i learned more about bulb spacing during this grow. the spacing i used here is not ideal and used an unnecessary amount of electric energy.

i'm about to move and will design more efficient arrays when i build my grow area.

that's all, folks!

i want to add that this plant is Blue Star OG from BlueStarSeedCo. it is a cross of Blue Star and Triangle Kush.

Blue Star is a cross of Deathstar and Whitaker Blues. Death Star is a cross of ECSD and Sensi Star.

Whitaker Blues is a cross of Quimby and DJShorts F5 95 Blueberry.

Triangle Kush is of unknown background but is thought by some to be the most potent variation of OG Kush.

it is the winner of a pheno hunt i did using 50 seeds to sort through.

it is an extremely potent plant with a nice citrus fuel flavor up front and a floral perfume back. a smooth, potent, pain-relieving type of plant. it just makes you feel good!

below is a graph showing the approximate spectral distribution of a 2700k led and a tungsten incandescent.

i hope you all enjoyed the show!

Ah now i know what a ppk set up is and i hadnt seen it before , awesome work you put into your grow :respect:.
Nice results too :groupwave:
