Cherryjuana....limited edition run on the F2s.....the male was very strong on the acetone smell....whereas the girl is more the fruity kind....just giving the beans enough time to ripen up.
Emerald Jack......ticking many boxes....coming up to 8 weeks...
Bridget Fonda F1.....another girl pollinated by the Cherryjuana....won't get much off her, but should be quality smoke...
I read somewhere that some people had had difficulties breeding with Ice Cream.
So I just took the one I hit with Cherryjuana pollen out....and indeed, I can't see any seed-making action going on.....but I did discover a shitload of spider mite webbing.....guess I hadn't taken that one out for inspection for quite a while..... my bad.
I'm really bad at forecasting.....3 weeks at a guess. She's pretty solid, but still a bit more filling out to do. Zero veg time, so that always pushes things back.
Spider mites....they come, they go....sometimes I hold them back for a while.....other times, they infest everything heavily in just a couple of days.....I don't worry too much about them any more...
Mixed outcomes on the latest seed enterprises.....as I suspected, didn't get a single bean off the Ice Cream....only got a couple of viable F2s off the Cherryjuana.....but got an absolute shedload off the Bridget Fonda F1 I hit with Cherryjuana pollen. She has that very clear high (from the Lemon Thai) - what I'm smoking right now. Very nice...
Got another round of pollinations two weeks in.....hit a Cherryjuana and a Brigitte Nielsen F1 with some Northern Chunk pollen. The NC is a really dirty, grimy, sludgy sort of high.....excellent for late nights.....and just today hit a Super Silver Haze girl with some Bridget Fonda pollen....
Half-sister to the Bridget Fonda (BJ #2 x Lemon Chunk)......is the Brigitte Nielsen (BJ#2 x Chunky Cheese)......this one has been hit with Northern Chunk pollen....
Cherryjuana.....also dusted with the NC pollen......this one stayed short in veg, and has a faint plasticene smell.....so far the two traits have gone hand-in-hand.....I expect the plasticene will change to acetone as she matures.....all phenos I've found so far have been head-rippers....so no worries on that front.....
The camera does all the work......I just leave it in macro mode all the time, and point-and-shoot.....it's a shame how much clarity gets lost on the upload.....but going from 3Mb down to 150Kb....something's gotta give!
The Lemon Chunk and Northern Chunk have been breeding jewels for me....they add so much trichome coverage, it's just silly.......still wading through expressions....this pool of genes will keep me busy for a while......will work in some Chem/Diesel genes once I find a male that I actually like....had plenty of boys, but nothing that has really caught my eye....plenty of leaf mutations too....from the Chem D, I assume....
Nice....I can imagine it must be hard to pop seeds with that glorious stable of mothers you have now lol
If you are pheno-hunting.....the taller pheno seems to correlate with a more fruity taste and smell, yields a bit better, and is a bit quicker to finish, while the short, squat pheno seems to be the plasticene/acetone smell.....both types seem to balance out in size in flower, it's just in veg that they really look different. No worries about floppy stems on any of the girls....stems like East German shot-putters.
My latest girl took an absolute age to show sex....seed popped on 5th Sep....showed sex yesterday...but she should be done and dried for Christmas smoke.
Talking of mothers.....I've just made my very first one.....more as a test than anything else....she's a nice enough girl....the best so far out of a pack of "Sam's Mixed Seeds x Haze/Skunk #1".....be a while before I can start taking cuts....but wanted to test the waters...have something on standby to fill in those odd gaps in the schedule...
Yeah, I need to give her a blast of one of the sprays.....always a bit wary about going too heavy with the chems on a little girl like that, as the plants can wig out a bit afterwards.
I overfed her a bit as it is....gave her a single chicken manure pellet to tide her by once she started revegging OK, as the new growth was a little pale.....and now got a bit of tip burn.....she'll grow out of it.....
Super Silver Haze.....I was warned about the stretch...so she went into flower at 3cm tall....6 weeks later....she's at 63cm and showing no sign of slowing down....despite being seeded with some Bridget Fonda F1 pollen.......already very sticky to the touch....
