Blazeoneup's Recirculating Dwc Construction Tutorial!

Man, I always loved your DWC tutorials, I modeled mine after yours posted on Overgrow. This setup looks a LOT cleaner, and easier to maintain... I love the 3/4" ebb&flow fittings for holes, that is a killer idea... no leaks!!!! No silicone!!

What was the main reason you took down your old system? This looks to be your 3rd or 4th DWC rebuild.. what gives? Although, I must admit, with each rebuild things look cleaner and easier, could be enough reason right there.

One of the best tutorials I have ever read on any website; clear and concise.

Thanks man,Actually this system is just being relocated im rebuilding because i had planned to make a clean version easy to break down but yet not tear up taking apart.

Of course i could have ran the other system again,Cause it really does perform well.

Ok plain and simple main reason for the rebuild was to make this tutorial,After og went down i have not seen a single recirculating dwc construction thread.I thought what better than to improve my system again and get a tutorial up in the process.

It would be finished right now,I went down and finished building the system and came back up to post the pics ect,When i loaded the memory card not a single picture was saved now i have to tear it back down to get pics for the tutorial again.

Ok guys i will have it finished up by tommorow night,All thats left to do is get pics of installing the 1/4" feed lines and connecting air pumps,That and im going to go over some details on everything,Until next time be safe and take care :)

………..very time I read this thread it puts a smile on my face, if there’s one thing I know; that is just how much work goes into making one of these fine tutorial thread, it’s a lot of hard work and worthy of notation, blazeoneup you’ve done it again very fine tutorial indeed……….so without further ado it’s STICKY TIME!!

BigToke i am sure you do that monster of a tutorial you put together on bio buckets is a one of a kind.As i have said on other messages boardes when asked about bio buckets,I throw a link to BigTokes bio bucket tutorial as its the absolute best bio bucket tutorial out there and maybe the best tutorial i've seen to date...

peace blaze, i have a coupla questions if u don't mind, i notice that most of ur drain fittings and such are at the bottom of the bubbler, do u worry about res. overflowing should there be a power outage or pumpv failure, i notice most recommend feed and drain be up high and on opposite sides, therefore if any probs with the pumps the runoff wouldn't over flow the res.? am i missing something with ur setup? also how r u calculating how much water is needed to keep the bubblers flow level constant? this is one of the best tutes i've come across...peace!

This system uses gravity to keep the water level constant,That and a float valve for auto topping off,Electric or power outage will never cause an overflow in this system,Or pump failure,However it will cause the water/nutrient solution to go stagnant so its always good to keep some battery operated air pumps around just incase.The waters flow is kept constant and calculated by the the pumps output devided by the total water capacity of the system.In my case 50 gallons system capacity,a 264 GPH pump so 264/50=5 so i will get 5 full exchanges per hr.

only overflow if a clog were to accur in the return line,But thats the only way and its unlikely that a clog will accur using the 3/4" ID tubing.

peace blaze, i 'preciate the the detailed answer to my questions, so my tubs are 10 gal. each, thats 20 gal. total, my rio 1100 powerhead is rated 300gph/20 = 15 times per hour, is that too much?? now water volume is next thing thats confusing, 2 x 35L = 70 liters of water in the buckets right! now how much is needed in the res? is it 1/2 the volume of the buckets? i notice that ur res volume seems very shallow, last but not least, adding benefical bacteria to the tubs, and please lets not turn this into a debate over systems, but if u add the larva rocks to each plants tubs via net pots, isn't this essentially a bio system w/o the waterfall? oxygen added via airpumps and/or powerheads in the tubs, school me if i am wrong...

Ok first i think your confusing the res with the controller,The reservoir holds as much as the system capacity,For example i run a 12 bucket system each bucket holds about 3-3&1/2 gal plus the controller holds about 9-12 gallons,So around 45-50 gallons total system capacity,So my res is a 45 gallon trash can basically holds as muhc as the system,This allows as much as 2 weeks between res changes if the grower wanted.

The controller holds as much as needed to keep water level 1" below net cups its set by bending the float valve and adjusting after filling up.Im not even going to get into the bio/dwc thing.We will say it would be a dwc grow using beneficials thats all nothing more nothing less...
