Blazeoneup hits the dirt again.

Alright, finally got some pictures and was wondering if I could get some input. I have been using this mix (with even parts mgoc and pro mix bx) - overall, the plants I put it in have made a great recovery but I have some sporadic color changes that are a little puzzling. The only pics that I found that matched it closely were regarding temperature fluctuations. These have had some but it hasnt ever been too cold in there (never under 73) BUT could this be caused by using water straight from the tap and it being too cold since it's colder outside? What is the ideal temp for watering? Too warm?

The first two pics are side by side views of one plant's recovery. The others are various examples of the coloration that I'm talking about.

Thanks and thanks to Blaze and everyone on this thread it seems like we all find things tucked away in here that are relevant - like his switching to ocean forest - did he do that after the first grow?

Heres a question I don't think has been asked.
I started my seedlings in a mix of peat moss, perlite and vermiculite. I gave em' nothing but water first week and a half then light feedings of Humboldt nute A-B for the last week and a half. (Seedlings are 1 Super Lemon Haze, 1 Alaskan Ice and 4 Kings Kush. All females.)
I'm wanting to repot them in about a week or two into BLAZEONEUP's soil mix, can I do this or will the soil change screw them up? Has anyone ever done this? :1help:

You know for a long time I was planting straight into FFOF 200+ seedlings and no problems...then I started going straight promix to start in 6 inch pots and ran into several early deficiencies...these last two times I take blazeoneups mix put half full in a 6 inch square pot and the rest promix and my plants are doing better than ever.

I have used 50+ clones now this way and easily 40+ seedlings with no problem.

I second that!

Caution with Hygrozyme in this mix

Caution with Hygrozyme in this mix

Hello all, do any of you use hygrozyme with this mix? I used some, only because I had been talked into buying some and am tired of looking at it, well the plants that I used it on are loosing leaves at the rate of about 10 per day now - with big black splotches and then yellowing. I'll try to get some pics.

Hey Blazeoneup.. How do you PH this feed line? Do you Ph your water prior to watering, or does the lime and nute mix have automatic ph balancing properties? I was thinking to PH with ph down at like 6.0 with this soil mix and things will be fine, any info? Thanks alot mate. :) also, does it have to be that brand of lime, cause I was wondering if "sunniland" brand of garden lime from wally world will suffice.? Thanks again. :joint::1help:

Guys I hate to be the master of the obvious but I’m almost certain B1up is no longer answering this thread.

Good news is though he is in the chat room here quite often and very receptive to questions. Trust me I know, if no luck there you could tempt a pm and maybe you'll get lucky

Somewhere in here he says that he doesnt ph his water as long as the runoff is around 6.5. I think that as long as your in the 6.5-7.5 range it should buffer just fine. my tap water ranges from 8-8.5 so I just use a little liquid karma or pureblendpro to bring the ph down. depending on the strain maybe some cal mag in flower. It hardly takes any of that stuff to do the trick. I don't know if it's even necessary but it makes me feel a little better and I've got that stuff laying around. Anyone else?

I just gathered all materials for this mix... peat, ffof, lime, bone/blood, and I'm a lil short on my perlite so I'll be getting one more 8qt bvag of that. Will keep you guys up to date on my progress. Running GFxBB and PPP if it makes any difference....

It may have already been asked (I mean DAMN, this IS a long thred), but are there any teas or anything eles that you might ad to this mix during the grow?

I have added earthworm casings before but to be hones.. the plants grow great with nothing else added.

So, I gave my box of amendments (bone meal, blood meal etc) to a friend so they could make this mix. When they opened up the box my recipe was in there. They made the mix and potted plants. Only problem is that I had doubled the recipe because I wanted to go ahead and make a bunch so I only made a complete mess once. So, they've got the plants in it (for two weeks now) and they look ok (not a vibrant as I think they should but the temps have been all over the map) but I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were. I guess that these nutrients wont burn the plant, right? But, the ph could be all screwed up? I guess maybe I'll have them test the runoff when they water.

difference in soil and hydro is the bud density

difference in soil and hydro is the bud density

******* nice to see you active here on Icmag. Catch you later :)

I dont think yields will be the same, I dont prefer either or they are both always good I believe quality is strain dependant not system dependant if your hydro is better then your soil, You didnt do the soil to well, If your soil is better then your hydro then the hydro wasnt proper. Only major difference in soil and hydro is the bud density.

Thanks for stopping by!

So is the soil denser or hydro?

Im no expert or anything, but I recently did a soil grow and a hydro grow right after it, and the buds in soil were far denser than the hydro produced nugs! Just my 2 cents.

thanks

Cool, what kind of soil & what kind of hydro? what was the weight diff???

bust open the root balls

bust open the root balls

Ok as I promised I done some transplanting today and took some pictures of how I bust open the root balls and spread them out...

Here is a urkle clone which has become root bound in the cups, Using pro mix and water only from rooted clone.

Here is the urkle baby out of the cup. This baby is nice and ready...

Here is the same urkle baby as I busted open the root ball and prepaired for transplant...

Here's the roots all spread out along the top of the soil surface.

Now she is in her new pot and transplant was a success.

The freshly transplanted girls getting watered down :)

Now ready to go under the lights and get to growing...

I hope this illustrates how I bust open the root balls well enough for you guys, Overlook the mess I made mixing soil lol... Until next time be safe and take care!

Do you use any thing like hormex???
