There may be some wrongfully arrested people, but the war on drugs will fail. There has been many "wars on drugs" and drugs are still here. Even gotten cheaper.

Most of the Cannabis found in France is Moroccoan hashish, and the traffic and sale is organized by gangs located in immigrant rich suburbs, so to Sarkozy, the whole drug thing ties in with organized crime and the "immigrant problem", two of his pet hate targets in the Presidential campaign.

Also, and mostly, on money. All candidates have used this horrible moto of "Pouvoir d'achat" (buying power) all along their campaign. They have brainwashed people with that. In an ultra-materialist country like France, money comes first. The promise to increase buying capacity of people is a strong argument here. It's not "I think, therefore I am" anymore, but rather "I buy, therefore I am".
That's the only ideal that is proposed to French people today. To be able to buy more...
One thing which disgusts me frankly is that a vast majority of the 18-24 years old have voted for Sarko. Shitty youth that will build an ever more shitty, materialist society.
