the rock story is very currious, like how would a rock move on its own

a fair point, the thread may have penetrated a little farther in my psyche than is good for me
still I have no reasonable explanation, the setting seems to exclude human causes
and likely will never be explained, just kind of odd

its just is curious that this big rock has moved with no signs of movement i would expect
i dont know, maybe one of his neighbors is a 100kg hulk who just like to shift rocks

he dropped in unannounced, that is if there is a "he" nearby
but what is the ultimate Sasquatch delicacy?
from what I read, it's a dead field mouse wrapped in grass

to put a little context, I'm home most of the time
very good hearing, in and out on the property for various reasons
so someone slipping on the property to move a largish rock is a stretch
and I don't have neighbors in the usual sense, growing was illegal here not so long ago and I chose location in part for that need

one more slightly uncomfortable observation, you'll note the rock surface is clean
and remembering this what I saw when I saw it moved, clean not dirty
that could suggest it was picked straight up then set dirty side down
and I've seen no signs it was dragged or rolled
anything that could pickup that rock straight up off the ground is strong indeed


edit: looking at the pics I think I see mineral/soil stain
so that could have been the bottom, but I'm quite sure it looked as clean as I'm seeing now
but that rock has been there unmoved for 5+ years, it should have had some noticeable dirt, admit to being a little confused

thanks to the skeptics! you motivate greatly
here's what bothered me, there was something about the rock appearance that didn't seem right
it looks like it's been cleaned, kind of like a pressure washing
the current top is the previous bottom, I see a mineral stain that covers the area that was in firm contact with the soil
I would remember flipping it, dementia or not
and patience skeptics, I know something else(s) are needed for any serious consideration
but for a few days my brain wouldn't(or couldn't) acknowledge what I was seeing, kind of a low grade shock

a rock buried would have a line of showing what part was under ground, but i dont know how often yo frequent this spot and the rock could have dried ourt been rained on
/the hole is filled with leafs which suggests time might have passed so any marks of movement might have been obscured
thats a two handed rock if you could even lift if and if you saw no signs of movement its interesting
i used to be able to track things of all sizes and movement in rocks/ ground disturbances is def something you look for

thanks for noticing the stain, helps with thinking my mind isn't going to a strange place
I use it every day, every few hours, I largely heat with firewood
no signs visible, I can track some but no expert
was thinking of just watching it get dirtier, post some pics and compare

I've done some reading, might not be a good idea
my gut feeling, is this had to be human, it's just too bizarre
but just in case it's the other possibility, camera might be looked upon as a hostile act
that seems to be the experience of others reporting similar situations
no dice with the apple offering, hoping the thought counts for something

apple was put out last night, untouched this morning
picture shows rock, apple, and tape measure extended to 3 feet for scale
the rock's prior impression is visible though leaves and stuff are doing their fall thing
