Had 5 blueberryXhaze females from seed last round, went from 56 days to 85 days (56,66,70,85,85) The quicker 2 plants weren't as nice as the slower maturing ones. Mother of cuttings going this round, "1" went 70 and "4" went 85; but I've found in the past that cuttings can vary a little from the original seedplant so we'll see what happens.
Ran into a friend tonight and got a little more info on the mystery plants. Turns out the guy who originally bought the seeds in Vancouver last spring got four strains. My friend heard only one of the names, "Purple Kush." I searched around on strain guide, etc. but only saw references to that name in a couple of crosses. As this is secondhand info, he might have gotten the name wrong. So it looks like they're not two phenos of one strain, but two different strains entirely.
EDIT: Well that joke went over like a turd in a swimingpool; removed!
Hi all! Wow, week 7 already. Glad harvest is soon, the stash is getting pretty low; Rolando likes his smoke!
Hey there Pistillwhipped, thanks for swinging by. Have yet to try hydro, but those buckets have piqued my interest.
Temps have still been on the cool side. The next round of cuttings weren't doing anything, so I bought a heating mat and thermostat last week and took another round. Made a big difference!
Big Island indica BlueberryXhaze mother "1" BlueberryXhaze mother "4" ?Mystery? plant "d" ?Mystery? plant "e"
Guessing 9 weeks for the mystery plants, what do you think?
Hey RM - I'm coming in on this one a little late but I thought I would make a recommendation to you for "getting the plants off the cement floor". Instead of building something elaborate to raise them, you could just go get a couple of sheets of foam sheathing like Blue Dow board. You know, you've probably seen it used in the construction of new homes as they use it as sheathing around the exterior of framed walls just before putting up the brick/siding or whatever. It comes in 4' x 8' sheets and has a R-Value of R-8. It's insulation abilities will shield your plants from the cold of the floor and is not affected by moisture as it has a built-in moisture barrier film. It runs about $5 a sheet at Home Depot and would be a lot less hassle than building something more elaborate. Just a thought anyways.
Here's a link to Dow Styrofoam to show you what it looks like:
Thanks TK! Going to be back home in Texas for a quick visit in a couple of weeks, can almost taste that hill country bbq!
Great minds think alike Rellikbuzz - I had some wood on hand already so I went ahead and built a platform, but for the veg side I cut a 4x8 sheet of foam in half and stacked both pieces. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Mota congrats on a fine show. The Big Island ? Is it as beautiful as they say? Going next year to the Hilton Waikoloa Beach Resort. Is there anything that you can recommend that is a must see? It's a family trip but can get away on my own for a while Your updates are deffinetly appreciated thank you for sharing.
mrwags - Hell yes Hawaii is beautiful! Been a few years since I've been, but I'd have to say the volcano is a must see. Pu'uhonua O Honaunau national park is really cool (city of refuge,) snorkeling Kealakekua Bay is great, hiking Waimanu valley is a blast, Puna side is very different from Kona and a lot of fun to explore. The little town of Pahoa was one of the dreadiest places I've ever been, cheaper and better herb, not sure if that's still the case (things change so fast!)
agent 420 - It depends on the style you grow the plants and the size of the containers. Mine are in 3.5 gallon pots with 12 inch saucers, so they're touching in order to keep them in the 4'X4' footprint. Grown more plants in smaller pots, and fewer in larger. I've pretty much decided larger plants work better for soil, so next round it will be 9 plants in 5 gallon, or 12 if I get a lightrail which I probably will end up doing.
Thanks shaolin730, I appreciate the comments. I'd say it's easy for a tourist to score, or shall I say it's easy for a tourist to get ripped off. I saw so many kids on the street selling "kukus," fake weed. Sometimes they'll add a small bud to the sack so it smells like weed, but usually it's just garbage. But it seemed like someone was always hanging at the beach with the real deal. Just play it cool, bro.
