BHOgart 5lb Twin Turbo...

Ok, im NOT A rep of Bhogart. But I rep them because its what I use and they are local, which I like. I really like the unit, but it can easily be modified to be a MK4 style hybrid. Doing the hybrid would just make things easier, ill talk about that later...
I have to say that im new to closed loop systems, but had hands on training by a knowledgeable person. He came up with the hybrid ideas since he ran MK's mostly. With the base price of the BHOgart, and doing a MK style hybrid. It would be much cheaper to go this route for the size of the system...
I bought a 5lb Twin Turbo. Twin Turbo which means you can use two Appions, for two recovery tanks if you want.

You can see that I only ran one Appion because I only had one recovery tank. The recovery tank is supposed to hold 25-30 butane cans, we got 20 in. Again im new...

Its a 5lb column which is essentially two, 2 1/2lb columns clamped together. I also bought a 1/2lb column for smaller runs. The 5 lb, I was only able to hold a tad over 1000 grams of material in there, and 1/2 lb column holds exactly a half pound....

You can see how tall the 5 lb unit is, he is 5' 10" tall!!

I was able to get 20lbs of trim from a buddy, cheap. My plan is to run it in the 5lb column and just go to town with it. But when I opened the bags, it was all CACA trim, smelling like hay. Fuck it, im running it anyways! Stuff the 1000 grams in the column and blast away.
Long story short, 70 grams of oil came out after purge in a oven. All the oil smells and tastes like edibles, if that makes sense. It was a real shitty yield, but the trim was stupid cheap. I think we did another wash with it and got another 30 or so grams, I cant remember right. Around a 10% yield, but it is all shatter....

We wanted to run the smaller tube to see how it did with flower trim inside it. My buddy packed his material, we ran it. A little of the previous hash was still inside the collection pot so it made his oil a little dark, but bomb as fuck, SUPER stinky. Think he yielded around 15% shatter...

After seeing his success, I grab a 1/2lb of bomb organic Casey Jones, grind it up and pack the small column. We run it and bust out an astonishing 25% yield!!! Its still in the vacuum oven, ill pull it out in a hour or so. Tried some, its really good. A little autobuddering though...

We did another run in the huge tube. All in all, we yielded around a 1/2lb of shatter in the last 24 hours!
Im NOT going to post pics of the final product. Even though its really good, its not up to MY standards. I like jolly rancher style oil, if that makes sense...

Im going to keep messing with this until Its perfect shatter. Just need some more decent trim or bud...

Hybrid Ideas...

1 - Switch out the recovery tank to an R600 N Butane 50lb tank..
2 - Use A ball valve at the top of the collection pot...
3 - At the reducer on the bottom, install an injection port for butane...
4 - SS lines for super below zero freezing temps, using denatured alchy and dry ice...
5 - Better sightglass

I'm in a smaller unit .. my best quality run so far has been from 2, 15 min showers ..@15% yield .. are you doing multiple recoverys per run or just a single shower for how long .?
.. That thing looks huge ..btw

I have a 5# on the way. I plan on using a 50# or 100# refrigerant tank instead of the storage tank they provide. Also have some parts on the way to make this thing flood from the bottom up and top down. I plan on running this like my mkiii, by flooding the tube from the bottom, soak the material for a minute or two then dump the column down into the collection pot and finish with a top flush a fresh butane once the column has no liquid in the material and freezes up. Ill be running my butane in a deep freeze with dry ice packed around it to avoid picking up what waxes i can.

Any of that sound wrong?? Glad to see others that are modding their BHOgarts. You say your going to use 2 recovery tanks, why 2? I thought your could run 2 pumps into 1 tank just fine, you just have to make sure you tank is properly chilled. Thats why i might go with the 100# so i have more room for the hot liquid to condense.

Out of the the companies BHOgart was the only one to TIMELY respond back to my emails and the only one that dint tell me its 6+ week wait on a large system

I can also see you're using a 'stand in'. Gawd I miss Cali. Love those palm trees.

I dunno...ran into some dude in the Chico hills a few months back and he knew young peeps that submitted a design to BHOgart for testing and some crazy high column. I gotta call him and see what happened with that.

From my notes it looks like a 15 minute and then a 10 minute shower...
My second run ever on this thing was 25% yield...

That all sounds good to me. I would add that GrayWolf likes the 50# over the 100# because the 100 is tall and skinny, so the surface area of the liquid is smaller and recovery not as quick.

Also if you are going to be running super cooled butane then I think you need to upgrade all you o-rings to PTFE (not sure if I got that one right), also you want to make sure that the hoses you use are rated for super critical temps.

I look forward to the modification photos, because BHOgart needs to have a way to soak the material, helping to reduce the total amount of butane used as well as making sure that no pockets or channels form during the rainfall. You can rain fall butane all day long, but if the column has too little pressure / even flow of tane you will end up with some areas of the column not getting extracted.

The 100# tank works OK, it is the 125# tank that is tall and skinny.

Good point on the seals and hoses. We use stainless overbraided PTFE hoses for subzero extractions, from Associated Hose or Motion and Flow.

krunchbubble wouldl ove to know how the nbutane works out. is that from eco green industries? They almost sounded too good to be true, wanted to hear from someone first hand.

Think I will run it this weekend, if I have time...

Yes, from eco green....

They are wonderful. I've got several people that use their gas (including myself) and have no issues.

Of note, is that our Ecogreen tanks arrived with 1/4" refrigeration flare fittings as opposed to LP-5 propane valves requiring adapters. They also have dip tubes, so are ideal for our application.

PS: My past dealings with the owner of Ecogreen Industries on previous business ventures, leaves me considering him an honorable and trustworthy supplier, so I look forward to testing their product!
