Beware of Fingerprints in your Cannabis Pictures.

I have been browsing the Flower Pix section of the forum and have noticed that a lot of people have taken pictures and their fingerprints show very clearly. You would be surprised at how easy it would be to make an identification with a lot of the pictures I have seen published here. I personally am skilled in the Henry Clasification Method and i was terrified at the sight of how people were so careless when it came to concealing their fingerprints. Remember guys you only need a very small portion of a print to get an identification.

I know i am sounding very paranoid but seeing how fucked up the U.S. Goverment is and has been in the past, it would not surprise me one bit if some jackass in the DEA would get a proyect like that started.

Just a friendly advice from a fellow cannabis follower.

Peace

I'm not sure if you've heard but the government doesn't have enough $$ to keep the programs they have open NOW, running.

How many people do you think a multi-million dollar program to ID fingerprints in weed forum postings would snag?

It would not take a multi-million dollar program to do this is the thing.
It would probably be a 1 or 2 guys to collect the photographic evidence from the site. 10-20 guys working on the clasification could EASILY process 100+ prints in a day. After you get the result just run that result over in the many databases that they have access to and chances are they matches will start popping fairly quickly.

I just want to spread the word that this thing is very easy to do and it would not take that much of budget to pull it off, im just trying to warn people to be careful about the closeups on the fingerprints. Thats all.

It should be appreciated, wish I could count on the authorities being too "poor" to put me in a cage,I know better. You think you're concerned?I've been around the forums six years now and I wouldn't post a pic online for real money,no way.If you doubt a new "offensive" against growers with pics posted is possible, more power to ya.I've been around too long and know what they're capable of,I wouldnt post felonius pics online for sex drugs or rocknroll! If a person has a plant or three and has some problems,I can see it.When a commercial guy wants to be a kingpin and show off,I cant understand it at all.

Must admit, I've never noticed photos of fingerprints in the flower section. Hands, feet, plants yes, but finger prints no. Nice macro work folks.

How do you get a fingerprint on a digital picture????

Thats not possible, a picture of your hand yes but a fingerprint :monkeyeat please post this pictureS from IC's gallery as would love to see the prints. :pointlaug

Plus where not murderers here so it's going to be hard to justify using the lab time on a non violent offensive. :joint:

Hey AG he means like someone is holding a bud or something and taking a macro and you can see their finger so well you can see the print. Its a good point, I was thinking of this the other day...don't exactly remember what picture made me but someone had enough finger showing for almost a full print.

I'd say the only ones that should be worried are those with their prints on file already...and are committing some major crimes. That or if you have a large amount of convictions already and they're trying to put you away for some reason.

Oh and possibly if they seize your computer and want to prove bud pics are yours.

Just be careful...with some of the technology out there today we live in a scary world. And its a pretty easy precaution to take to just smear out your fingers if there is a good shot of your print!

I dont see how a photo of a print would help identify anyone, and anyway if they really wanted you, they wouldnt waste time with a fingerprint in a photo, they'd just track your i.p

We should all just make our pics blurry on purpose :)

I dont doubt theres technology out there that can pull prints from pics though. Its really just 0's and 1's (binary code for you non-IT types) so there may be a pattern in simply those numbers to decode it. It wouldnt be about what you see on your screen but rather the data behind it.
I would doubt if its actually in use though.

i try to point out possible security flaws with pictures and will stay vigilant....thanks for the security concern, not to be paranoid, but you can never be too careful these days with this Global Cannabis Inquisition going on....

Yea well the digital pictures themselves are encoded with serial numbers that of course belong to only that specific camera ( like a firearm bullet signature).........by the way every digital camera does this as do all printers and faxes and digital recorders ...then i would think most cameras are linked to a name from the point of purchase .........and the police use the serial numbers all the time to link people to crimes.....

absolutely,
thats why you just pay in cash and dont buy or fill out a warranty plan.
and always wash your pictures through photoshop and resave using different filenames etc.. exif data may still show, i havent really read too much on it....
but thats a reach for just a small time grower like myself who's garden would only be a misdemeanor if *knock on wood* something bad would happen..
