Aussies drink wine? I served in the Nam with a few and I would NEVER accuse any of those beer and (even Jap) whiskey drinkers of abusing wine to their faces. Hell they would fight you at the drop of a hat even if it was your own hat. The Aussies are good people. I bet many of them were Scotch-Irish as they were called here in the US of A also known as Hillbillies. You know my people.

Imagine how many times this wine was "paired" with Columbian brick weed back in the 70's under a bridge some where in Brooklyn New York. The fact that it is a wine and has such a clear color with high alcohol makes it look absolutely vile.

fortified wine is more of a mixed drink than a wine.

What is a wine? In the most general terms, it is when yeast eats sugars. Yeast being a living thing, it pisses alcohol and farts CO2. People have been known to make wine in the vicinity of a grow for the beneficial effects of CO2. So anyway, the yeast eats the sugar and makes alcohol until it reaches a point that the alcohol kills the yeast. in most table wines it is about 12-14%.

Port wines, dessert wines have a higher alcohol content, like 19%, but they may be fortified as well. Never drank or studied them.

Yep Bigfoot barley wine is killer at least 10 or more % and you want to gulp it but you better sip if you're driving haha only get it in certain times of the year as they would run out every year and then you have to wait til the next years batch

2 gallons warm water
2 heaping tablespoons active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon champagne yeast (keeps making alcohol & CO2 after the alcohol content gets too high & kills the baker's yeast)
2 pounds cane sugar
= 2 gallons 10% alcohol sugar water ... possibly with a dusting of fruit flies.

ALT recipe
fruit, normal or rotting
5 gallon bucket
fill the bucket with the rotten fruit
let it ferment.
after a while, the stomach-turning mess will have alcohol.
Not sure if it gets yeast from the air.
^ That's the "prison Sangria recipe" I've heard about. Haven't got the exact details.
