Best way to seal gaps?

Some Kinda Kush

New member
Hi! Been looking around but still wondering, what would be the best way to seal gaps in my grow box? caulking? I plan on covering the whole area with mylar after i drill intake/exhaust holes, would that alone without sealing the gaps mess with the negative pressure? Should i use weather stripping around the door? (top) thanks in advance.

*EDIT* IC wont let me have url's in my posts... so i cant get pics!?! How do i go about this? I uploaded the pics to my gallery... sorry new around here...

Caulk up all the seams and use FELT weatherstripping around the door.

The felt is the key. I fucked with regular foam stick-on weatherstripping for a long time before seeing someone's post on here (I forget who) and the felt stuff works fabulously.

I can't remember who that was either....http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=95220

Although the expanding foam can definitely seal things up, it can also help to rip things apart if you aren't careful. It can separate boards that are screwed together tight. I would only use it in a pinch, and then verrry sparingly.

IMO, it is much better to fill the cracks of your cab with either a silicone bathroom type caulk, or a latex.
You can get a 16oz can of latex/silicone caulk that is pressurized and needs no gun, at just about any hardware or lumber supply.
"Alex Plus Easy Caulk" from DAP is the best I have found, and one can will seal up a large cab. Once you have it spread quickly along the cracks, just take your finger and run over it smoothing it as you go, and taking up the excess (use that elsewhere). It will look like the edge of your bathtub if done correctly.
Don't be afraid to get in and get messy with it. It will dry and you will probably cover or paint it anyway.

If its a gab in the door I would suggest marine weather stripping. The marine style is really dense and tough which makes it ideal for a tight strong seal around the doors. If its a gap in the wood somewhere along the backing or anywhere in the construction I say use Power Grab or a type of foam sealant if you need to be able to take the cab apart later. Hoosierdaddy had the right idea here, about putting it on and running your finger over it to take the excess off though. Makes it look nice and clean and does a great job as well. Just make sure that you get one with a low odor that way the plants don't get poisoned or anything.
