Best time to prune?

I've been having some issues with hermies the past couple of grows. After ruling out light leaks, timer issues, etc..I realized these pretty much started when I took a more aggressive approach to pruning.

During week 1 or 2 of 24/7 I trim off all of the lower branches and hidden bud sites.

Too early? Someone just said I should do it on day 21 of flower.

What about during veg? is that an ok time to do it?

In MY soil grows I do nothing for first 2 weeks, let them strengthen up a bit, get established and if I choose pruning I do a little at a time with a couple days of recovery then a little again.

I have trimmed right through veg this way and I never prune after 2nd week in flower with bit extra for recovery in between

Always use clean sharp tools to cut and a quick snip, no hacking type cuts

Some strains are more prone to herm and some can take an ANYTHING and keep going, always searching.

A friend that has Herm's every grow has narrowed it down to either his wife switching on a light sabotage style lol or cold water shock

Best of luck

I usually wait until at least day 15, sometimes day 21 like your friend told you. You can do it in veg as well. Just allow time for your plants to recover (3-7 days) before you put them into flower. What strain is it that is herming on you?

I'm presuming you're not using clones from same plant and not using same hemie seeds each time :)

All the best

To be clear...

The mother that these clones came from has had other clones taken from it before that have never hermied. IT was only AFTER I started pruning more aggressively that my issues started.

Strain is BOG SSK

Could be a number of things bro.... As far pruning goes, i'm sure it is possible, anything is. I personally prune first and second week of flower and then maybe remove a few leaves blocking light later on in flower, slowly and only when necessary. I clear out the bottoms and lower shit that is spaced out and poor looking in the first 2 weeks of flower BUT, I do it a little at a time. Never do it all at once. Take a good look at her, plan in advance exactly what you need to prune and take it day bu day step by step. Observe the situation and do it as a slow project, not as a demolition move all at once. Good luck.

I might pull some huge fan leaves that are blocking air flow in veg but typically wait until the first week or two of flowering with the stretch to make any big decisions on pruning.
