best strain for and a new grower?

I'm looking for a good strain for my 1st indoor hydro grow. I want a hardy good quality type not too tall suited for a humid climate and of course decent yeild would be nice also. It was suggested to me recently that White Widow would be a good choice. Are there differant types of white widow? some better than others perhaps? Any opinions would be apprecieated

a short, fast, cheap, indica........

look at Hashberry from Mandala Seeds......

white widow probably is not the best strain to start with. It tends to stretch a bit.....

Try the Mazar, it stays short, flowers early and kicks ass. Also, very easy to grow.

I grew Northern Lights for my first grow and lets just say its very forgiving if you make any mistakes. Extremely easy to grow. Great potency and yield too. Big thick buds with loads of trichs.

Are all Speed Queens the same? Are All northern lights as bright as the next? My question for instance is ,will a Speed Queen from say, the Bogart co, be the same Gal from A1 Best seed co.?

The NL I grew was from aloha and priced at around $50USD. While this si not that cheap, its not that expensive either. But I would say that you could just as well go with a Nirvana NL as you could with a sensi and theyd be about the same, except for the nirvana being about $70USD cheaper. Ive heard almost nothing but great things about nirvana, so if you want low priced quality, then thats the way to go. I cant really speak on which are better/worse, as Ive only grown one but Id imagine there not too different.

good luck whatever you choose

You can't go wrong with Northern Lights. Very easy plant to grow that pumps out some very big buds that have an awesome smell/taste/potency. Great way to get your feet wet.

As everyone has said, Northern Lights. Also try Afghani or Misty. All are easy to grow with great yields. Afghani is very resistent to most things. Be careful of mould in Misty as the colas are huge!!

Thanks for the overwelming response ! I have quite a list to research now.
I found a wide price range and wondered if this was due to some offering a better product of the same name.
Care to suggest a good source where I can learn about these different types? Per Guerilla's suggestion, I want to research instead of expecting folks to do it for me. Any folks from the US care to reffer me to sources they were happy with? Sounds like a lot of folks are happy with the Northern Lights variety. Thanks!

I just found the best source I could ask for ,from the good folks here at IC. My research didn't take me very far at all . My opologies for not doing my homework 1st.:bashhead:

I suggest staying away from the auction site. Alot of the prices are way too high and it's easier and less confusing than to just order from Gypsy. I've ordered from the seed bank quite a few times now, and I've never had a complaint. Plus you have the chance to get a very decent freebie pack (though some from what I've read are sheisty, though I've never gotten a bad one).

As for a good strain I don't run a hydro set up, however C99 seems to be a very hardy plant. I burnt two seedlings fairly badly and they're bouncing right back. I've grown mostly outdoors so my indoor experience is a little lacking, however from OD experience NL is a very hardy strain. Many of the crosses are excellent and can take a severe beating. If deer, drought, flooding (It's amazing how it can go from dry to soaking wet within five hours), and an infestation of some unknown insect; I don't see as how you could mess up too badly.

For your own research however you'll want to look into Indica and Indica Dominant crosses. They generally grow shorter, faster and stretch less than Sativa's.

PS Another great strain that's very durable is the Skunk varieties. They generally give a pretty good yield and a nice high. Just make sure to take care of the smell in advance, as they are staaanky.

I am at this time growing k2 and nl's and k2 is a little easier to grow it can survive anything. I have had to battle with mites heat issues when my ac was out and the nl's took a harder hit then the k2's. I am surprised more good things are not said of k2 because it really is a great strain!
