Best Light?

I am new to this indoor thing and would love get a new 600 or 400 hps with a light rail. Now for the questions..... Whats the best light to use with a rail or does it not matter? Can i got one as a package deal? (light/rail combo) What is the maximum i should pay for each item? What brand or type of bulb works best for growing in soil organic or are they all the same? Any awnsers or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I'd look for a Philips Son-T Agro bulb, these lights have a bit more light in the blue spectrum than regular HPS bulbs. You can use this light throughout veg & flower with good results..

Agreed. Unless you have the $ to get a 400 watt MH (intense blue light) for veg and a 400 watt HPS (intense red light) which is a lot of money... then you would have the ideal.

However I any agro light is almost as good, but not quite. The goal is to get the nodes real close, so the stems/branches/bud sites are close togetehr for more intense light.

If you for some reason cant get an agro, a regular HPS is best IMO for all stages.

I wouldn't waste money on a light mover unless you have multiple lights or a 1k.

Yep I used regular HPS throughout a whole grow, the plants have a bit more internodal space than with more blue-spectrum light but overall they turned out well... :joint: So if you're really on a tight budget, get a (cheap) regular HPS bulb. Otherwise MH or Son-T Agro / Hortilux for veg, HPS for flower

I wouldnt get a light rail either,I would get a combination fixture though,I have a 400HPS 400MH its my favorite over the 1K vertizontals. If I were to start over,I'd get the Sun System 600HPS/400MH fixture,it has to be the most effective thing going.Growzilla also makes a combo fixture, but they put their lamps side by side, thats funky.Sun Systems on the other hand makes a BIG fixture and puts their lamps end to end just inches apart. Can you imagine a 600 HPS and 400MH in the same large fixture man its gotta be the best

why not? I have a long tall space and only enough $$ to buy a 4 or 6 hundred hps. I don't have enough for multiple lights so i was thinking the mover would be optimal. :joint:

With a mover you'll end up with small loose buds in the whole space because none will get optimum light. How big is the space? You'd do better just using half the space. A 600w will do a square meter perfectly, about 3.3 ft x 3.3 ft. A 400 will do about 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft.

If you don't have a light mover already, just buy a second light. The light mover will cost you almost as much as the second light anyways, and two lights will always be better than 1 combined with a light mover. Your final price should be pretty equal. Just my .02 cents, although you know your space better than me so probably what you decide will be what is best suited. Good luck and keep us posted when you get set up!

I don't understand what these guyz have against light movers as they have worked very well for me using 2 x 1000's.

1) Spreads light evenly with an even canopy.

2) Keeps hot spots to a minimum.

3) Makes my 2 1000's shine like 3.

2 x1 k's is a lot different than 1 x 400. I'm sure they work well in your setup. How far do they travel?

How can you water so many grow bags? Just wondering thinking about doing a sog soon.. whats the average you get per plant and what strain?

ima vote no on the mover too, thats over kill. if a plant isn't getting enough light just move it around till it does. a 600 watt HPS offers a hell of alot of light
