I find the flavor is better if you dry the entire plant intact as opposed to chopping off the buds and drying them individually, but that could just the the Thai I work with. Uproot the plant if you can, rather than chopping it. I have not yet tried it with Cannabis but with Capsicum (peppers) it makes a difference.

I am a believer in the jars, but I will try the paper and plastic bag method this time around too. Thanks for the tip! :D

Careful with the big dense nugs. I have been drying and curing for years, sometimes commercial weed that comes moist, some my own and I just lost 2 large dense nugs to mold in the jar.

I hung them for 2 days, thought they were dry enough and jarred them, only to discover that I didn't burp them enough and the old white fuzzies deep inside the bud between the nugs started with the mushroomy smell....:badday:

I have dried and cured hundreds of ounces and this is the first I ever lost, so be careful, it can happen anytime to anyone.

From now on I am cutting my big buds into smaller nugs for better drying at the core of the buds.

Now I have an ounce of buds waiting to be made into water hash.

The RH is low here so I hang 3 days max, then cardboard box max 10 days and jar finish usually 30 days. Burping jars more in the beginning of cure and less at end of cure. After curing its all vacuumed in jars and bags.

I've never properly cured buds. Sometimes I hang the plant, sometimes I cut the bads off and put them in a dresser drawer for a day or two and then into the jar. Never had mold issues, but of course the bads were being smoked in there fresh green state. The last time I dried anything it was from an outdoor grow, which lasted 3 weeks, and I started noticing a better taste after 3 weeks in a jar.

This time around I'm going to go for it. I've been smoke free since May given the 3 days around my birthday when I had an 8th, so I'm sure it will be easy for me to let the buds dry on a rack for a week or two and then jar. I watched these hash making videos on youtube and you can see that they have plants hanging and drying, and that those plants are nor green, but golden brown instead. So I may go with a long dresser drawer dry follow by jarring.

thumbs up for hang dry for as long as possible, then paper bag, then plastic or glass with burping and stirring. - longest cured buds in glass - just under 3.5 years now.
