best 5-6" 'silent' fan

Hi, I currently have an s+p silent 125mm and am perfectly happy with it but due to a nice win gambling (i know - I'm going to hell in a shitty horsecart) I thought I'd have a look round for 'stuff'. I recently upgraded my lights and am happy with them so I'm concentrating on fans. However from the fairly quick look I've done nothing seems to be much better than what I've got.
This type of thing looks interesting - Soler & Palau
125mm Inline loft extractor FansAcoustic Cabinet Fans CAB Series -
but I think I'm right that they can't be going on roofs of grow tents. I haven't got much room where it is and it would prob have to go on the roof.
So while i wouldn't say money is no object I'm prepared to pay extra for something if it is an improvement and with that in mind:
1) Are acoustic box fans feasible for going on the roof - or how else is best to position them?
2) Are they better or just more expensive?
3) Are there any other in line 'silent' fans that compare well to the s+p?
4) A free for all! Can any body think of any other shit (grow room related but not seeds) that you wouldn't normally comprehend buying but might be tempted to in my situation?

Thanks for any help and 4 should prove the most interesting!

phresh hyper fans, with speed control, and other with built in silencer, I run 4 of without silencer n there good turned down, but now running on higher setting , seem to settle down after running awhile and are quieter. but there way quieter than can atc.

Cheers for these - the phresh hyper stealth looks interesting as it seems an all in one and def an upgrade on the silent. I'm not handy/crafty so the pansonic whisper scares me a bit from the wiring etc pint of view but I'll def dig deeper.

Vortex S-line (S for silent). Comes in 6" or 8". With a silencer they should be very quiet. Even has a door that closes when not in use, to prevent smell leaks. Wish they made a 4". Problem is these are longer than can fans.

Seem good reviews of hyper fan regarding both sound and performance.

My buddy has an S-Line. I will say it is pretty quiet.. But i did watch a video that compared S-Line to a pretty regular inline.. and the regular inline had a lower dB rating, and FAR out performed the S-Line.

I say buy a good quality fan (like the hyper) and put in a little DIY.

My last grow was in an apartment closet @ 600 watts..
I put my 8" active air fan (loud) in a rubbermaid tub, to which i glued 2 layers of that density foam for under carpets to the inside walls. I put down a layer of packing peanuts, wrapped fan in a blanket and dropped it in.. attached insulated ducting (key) and filled the rest of the tub with peanuts and closed the top. I probably had a total of 15 - 20 feet of ducting but I kid you not.. SILENT.. and i don't mean quiet.. It was in the crawl space above the grow, and nothing could be heard from the closet.. outside the closet.. below the closet.. and just a faint breeze could be heard if i put my ear next to the very end of the exhaust ducting in the crawl.

My next setup will be a bit bigger but will apply the same principals.
Hyper fan.. dialed down a touch... boxed up, with a bunch of insulated ducting.
Just be sure to oversize your fan and filter.

Pretty sure mines a 6 inch "can fan" max-fan, i was impressed by how quiet it was after i set it up, didnt even get a silencer for it. My last fan was some generic 4" hydrofarm it was much louder with the silencer and speed controller turned down than my current max-fan on the lowest setting

Do these fans have the option for speed control?
I'll need to upgrade for a silent fan and searching for candidates. Which are the best fans available in the EU?

Ok, i've had a look at installing these pana whispers but can't find anything grow room related. Can anybody be so kind as to point me in the right direction (of how these best work in a groom/tent just so i can get an idea to see if it is suitable for my set up. Many thanks _ Koondense yes from what i see they have speed control but this might be dead in the water as I'm not sure they are for sale over here!

Right having had a good dig I'm not really sure that i am going to do better than a hyper stealth. I'm not sure why Pana don't sell 'whispers' over here but they don't and looking round extractor fan shops and hydro shops, other than 'revolution vector ec' fans, with which quietness doesn't seem to be a selling point, and 'acoustic box' fans that one can't be sure are that quiet (and don't have speed controllers and use more power) the best premium fans are the hyper stealth's.
I'll have a look round for the best price and will prob go for the 6' version and not oversize the filter as i don't get why having a filter too big makes much of a difference. It may reduce noise a tad but I'm not sure enough to bother with it!

Good - I'm happy the rest of the world has these 'whisper' fans but we don't! Anyway, got a good deal on the stealth + 150x600mm 1000m³/hr filter + silencer. I'm tempted by the climate control unit and it does fit the criteria of 4) as it's a rip off at £100 but it could come in handy in the future.
Thanks for the suggestions and when I've installed it I'll be back to say if I'm happy - or otherwise!

150mm hyper stealth opinion.

150mm hyper stealth opinion.

Ok, just a quick round up as i got the fan etc (150mm stealth hyper, 1000m³ 150mm filter, 150mm silencer and climate control unit) late last week. Filter in tent, ducting to fan outside, silencer, reducer to 125 silencer then blowing into old 125 carbon filter. Unfortunately the fan and silencer don't sit flush (despite 'phresh' indicating they do) so there is very short ducting connecting everything.
At speeds up to 50-55% there is basically no noise at all from anywhere, ok, a slight 'electric' noise but sod all basically. The fan is very quiet at about 80% (I'm guessing a little on the %) and even at full blast the fan is quiet enough and with my set up there is very little movement of air noise. However the noise coming from the filter in the tent when at 80% plus is akin to being in a hovercraft.....engine!
I think it is just that more air is being moved and there isn't really anything that can be done about the noise, other than running the fan at less than 80%, which most prob do anyway. Which brings me into the climate control unit.
I wouldn't normally entertain something like this as I'm not a gadget bloke and i always think they are too much money (and hassle to set up as I'm not a diyer) but took the plunge. It works very well and is a piece of p to set up - the probe is accurate and it reacts fast and quietly to changing temps and the last few days have put it through it's paces as here in the Uk we have had 20c nights this last week, last night was 9 and it's going t be 30 in the day and 20 at night again next week. In other words it's had a lot to cope with and seems to be doing it very well.
I'm glad i bought all this (even the climate control!) though I would poss consider going a size up, though whether that would make a difference to the noise from the filter I'm not so sure. Run at less than 60% there is very little noise and it runs at that most of the time for me. It's def an upgrade on the s+p silent.
Anybody that wants to follow how the fan goes in action then I've got a sort of diary going in the Ace forum that might be worth looking at in a month or so's time as I'm about to flower.
Thanks for any input and happy growing all.

Could you tell us where you bought the fan? I'm also from EU and looking for a silent fan for my closet. Right now I have a WKA in-line fan, which is not pushing air through my scrubber fast enough, and it's fairly noisy.
