today, the renegade socialist Senator introduced a bill in the Senate to completely remove any and all federal penalties for possession or growing our favorite plant. this, in order to allow the states to deal with it as they wish without Big Brother looking over their shoulder. this will also open the industry to banking, which was sorely needed. the news broke on Yahoo just a bit ago...you the man, Bernie!:tiphat:

Good because these laws must start where he is now.. Because if he is president he is not king he cannot force his will on the rest of the country. He better make a difference when he had a chance to make one.

Well unless its war.. then all bets are off..

We sure need something with the failed initiative in Ohio. That was defeating to say the least.

My money (vote) is on him.

ya it would be a great duo.. that's the way this thing should work.. u pick 1 from each side.. and they have to work together both as president.. no vice president.. and both have to agree in order to have anything happen..

Just had a discussion w my retarded republican neighbor last night about bernie. This guy was bitching about bernie when he voted for rick scott twice. Its ironic how poor people are against socialism when it would help them but dont realize we have corporate socialism now.

Ohio’s was a bad proposal and the people saw thru it. Not sure if it was a total defeat…it truly brought the issue to the forefront. Hopefully lessons learned.

Smoke and mirrors, ie: a ploy to gain voters which is meaningless as it will never pass and he knows it, hence, meaningless cept politically to deceive.

The president of the US DOES have executive authority to override the status quo. It is then up to the congress to override the president with a veto. Lots can happen before that veto ever happens if the president was actually willing to do this.

He's not. Nor will any of them as they are all sleazy liars and murderers.

Smart political move.

I know Bernie Sanders pretty well after all these years and he is not a weed guy, nor an old hippy. His political calculations always start with "what is right?" not what will get votes. Legalizing weed is "right" in that it fits with a political philosophy that I would call "progressive libertarian," not so much traditional "socialist."

Tudo, you are very wrong about Bernie's motivation. He is not pandering for votes with the weed thing. I suspect, if anything, he is rather embarrassed to find himself supporting recreational weed. He has never taken weed very seriously although he has supported medical for more than ten years. Sure it will get him votes but that's not why he is doing it.

Also, it seems you have the system backward. The President can veto any piece of legislation. Congress needs to pass a law to veto the President and then he could veto that. Congress needs the help of the Supreme Court to veto the President in most cases.

I'm not questioning his motives, I'm just saying whatever his motives, it is a smart political move.

P.s.- Tell Bernie I said "hi".
