Beneficial Insects

My roves seemed to take quite a while to establish - nearly a year using reamended soil. There are different species but the generally feed off the same prey as H. miles (Stratiolaelaps scimitus). Seems like either roves or mites are dominant.

Roves love yellow stickies, a good way to check if you still have them.

Oh and you rock C4

Get the roves established in your worm bin too.

Perpetual rove harvest with your vermicompost.

My rove beetles were prevalent until I got more predatory nematodes.... I'm still trying to perfect that balance between everybody.

Awesome! thanks shrimp, I would rep you if I could ;)

Great tip on introducing roves to my worm bin, might have to order up another batch for just that. I got a couple different kinds of mites in there already.

Which species of rove beetle did you get and where from? The only species I could find on the market are Dalotia coriaria formerly known as Atheta and they require a very humid environment to thrive according to insect raisers.

The ones I had previously, I brought in from outdoors but I cannot seem to succeed so far at my new location/climate.

Distribution

Most of the Koppert products are living, delicate organisms. They are packed carefully, in such a way prepared for the journey that they are still fit after arrival. The distribution chain is designed to get the products at the final customer in the shortest possible time. This has resulted in a streamlined logistic network, with people along the line that are thoroughly trained how to handle the products. This network is operational in many countries.

For more information about the supply possibilities, please contact the Koppert office or one of the Koppert distributors in your country or contact the head office in the Netherlands.

yeah, they arent very specific, youd probably have to get a human on the phone to get a real answer.
on a unrelated note, the pdf link in your sig seems to be broken.

MM - They came in with some compost I fed to the worms, small and black, mabye a purple hue on the wings, no defined segments. They look like Dalotia coriaria, but there are so many species that i'd be hesitant to say for sure. They seem to do better in the bins that in my soil really.

Mine have a clear defined tan mid segment, I brought them in from outdoors... I love the way they patrol with their ass in the air like they think they're lil scorpions....

never thought of putting predators in my worm bin. Great idea! Thanks for all the great info in the predatory insects.

Predatory insects have taken over most of the house at this point... I find them randomly in the strangest of places.

Thanks for taking the time to put all this together. I had no idea there were so many beneficial predatory insects. Lots of good info and put together clearly
