Assume: Ass (out of) U (and) Me. Basically, if you assume things, it will potentially make an "ass out of u and me," for both the assumer and the assumee.

I will always remember this piece of wise information I received from a past employer. Which is kinda weird because he was one of the biggest turds I've ever met.

If we "honestly" and "consciously" observe all the "suffering" that occurs in our life, we will notice that we "only" suffer because of false beliefs and assumptions.

Reality is always the way it "is."

Arguing with reality is what leads to suffering.

Wanting reality to be some other way then it is, is what leads to pain.

When we think something or someone should be "some way" or shouldn't be "some way" and this should or shouldn't is in a form of a resistance against reality, suffering occurs.

There is no suffering in what "is."

misinformation, it runs rampant on YouTube.

The number of people looking for answers there is just amazing, what they find are world class liars on their own agenda, they'll spin a long bullshit story hitting on a truth here n' there just to suck 'em in. By the time they're done they've supposedly exposed massive govt coverups.

Wanna know who exposed a massive coverup??? Eric Snowden, that's who! same with Assange. And so with all these YouTube conspiracy coverup gurus still free and yacking more bullshit why isn't the govt chasing/hunting them down too???

because their story is 99% bullshit, again, 1% truth to pull in the gullible.......

People flashing 'documents' on letterheads of govt agencies, all bullshit, I saw the same fucking thing back in the 80's when it was circulating on VHS tapes, that's right VHS. same bullshit, different media. Didn't believe it then, still not biting on the bait now.

rant over.

yes S4L, all these made-up BS stories really fuck with people's thinking, and they end up spreading these rumors as-if they are the truth. As this spreads through the community where these folks live, and also online where these folks hang-out (facebook, etc) these false stories are talked about as there is no doubt about it.

Just listening to Mr. Obama saying that there is no doubt that the rebels are 100% NOT the ones that gassed all those folks in Syria, just to give an example.

Cultural beliefs and assumptions are what create a human beings whole perspective on himself and life in general.

Most of these beliefs and assumptions are not noticed because they are perceived as reality and as the truth.

Stepping back, and observing what one believes and assumes shows that the majority of these concepts are false, or at least NOT absolutely true.

Being convinced that something is true while it is not, obviously will lead to serious consequences in a person's life. And is this not what we really have as a rule?

The biggest step to take, is to accept that there are things we don't know, without feeling the need to fill that knowledge gap with something that can't be proved one way or another.

I read in a window one day (of a bookstore) when passing by

"Some people believe they are thinking when they are in fact only reorganizing their prejudices"

I thought it was clever

I "believe" and "assume" you are talking about actual physical pain here?

I do think that does add to my own physical pain. Although I have arthritis, screwed-up knee, back fucked-up, and balance totally whacked. I still everyday see shit and think that just didn't have to be this way.

Mostly I am at a loss as to figure out why most people do things the way they do and have concluded most crazy shit is done simply due to fear, like what Michael Moore said in Bowling for Columbine. Lotta shit is like that.

I sometimes do think maybe part of my pain comes from my not being more accepting of the way things are instead of how they could or what I think should be. So many, many things fit in that category. How does that AA credo go? Google here I come. Pretty much "just accept it" I think.

But yeah, I agree. From first hand experience too. :tumbleweed:

WOW, (cough, cough) that was a killer hit. Fuckin' coughing up a lung here. :dance013:

...i'm talking about "all" suffering - physical, emotional, and mental.

suffering is a feeling of being "forced" to put up with something unwanted.

and fundamentally all suffering is "conceptual" - meaning that it is produced by (and in) the mind.

...if one "slowly" and "honestly" observes any experience where one is suffering - he will notice that all physical, emotional, and mental suffering is actually an "interpretation" of what "information" one's nerve endings deliver to the mind.

...btw...all experience is an "interpretation" of what "information" one's nerve endings deliver to the mind.
