Hey J.C.
I trained a Sam's Mix haze plant in a cork screw around the container like the plant in your second photo. Everything went well until it had made one complete turn around the pot. At that point it was turning back into itself , cluttering everything up. It turned out to be a male so I chopped it but from what I saw happening its something to keep in mind.

I second topping and lst'ing afterwards. This is what I do, and it creates bushier plants without the need to snake plants around the container like you'll have to with your current method.

Also, where are your fan leaves from the main stem? Did you remove them perhaps?

yep i defoliate to eliminate shade spots, therefore causing the lower branches to stretch to the top. i want to do low stress things to my ladies, so they dont suffer. dont get me wrong though "topping" is a great method, i do use it for 2 of my plants, im just a new grower and experimenting with LST, at the moment i like using the method of lst a little more than toping.:)
thanks for the inputs and comments!

Well, I dont want this to turn into a defoliate thread, but I would suggest you leave them alone. Those fan leaves are what drive the growth of the lateral branches. Remove them, and you will stunt their development. Your WW looks to be an example of stunting. She's pretty small for 46 days. I think you could do better next time alone with the leaves left alone.

The whole purpose of LST is to open up the canopy to allow more light to reach lower fan leaves. You really are shooting yourself in the foot by removing them. You are a new grower, and like you said experimenting, so I wish you the best with them. How about experimenting with the fan leaves on next time you lst and see how that goes? :)

I'm sure after this grow you will have a good handle on both LST and topping. I would suggest using the two together on one of your plants next round. Great results can be had. GL!
