I have a couple of his strains:
F-13 x Chem Dog D
Funky Bitch x F-13
Jack x Blueberry
winter grow, ....still in vegetative, so not much to see, but will post pics soon.

Also, grew his (Grapefruit x Blueberry) x Cindy99, and a couple of the God Bud crosses this past summer - all good smoke. The key is to find a "keeper pheno" from whatever strain you select. For example, the (Grapefruit x Blueberry) x C99 I kept was a sativa leaner (I also had a small indica pheno that got attacked by mold & mildew - so it got tossed) - the smoke was heart racing after a couple of hits...can't say I get anything heart racing from any of the modern criss-cross strains.
I always try to have a couple of his strains in the que - there's some gold in the genetics, it just involves a bit more searching...
Is there a breeder\company where one doesn't have to look to far?
I'm asking because I keep seeing this one must search for a keeper.
I have a very elementary understanding of how this plant works with phenos etc but what exactly would make the search faster?

Yup,
CSI Humboldt,
Cannabinology,
Med Man (out of San Francisco, Bay Area, CA) (not the Canadian Med Man),
Genetic Supply,
Sun Grown Genetics,
Humboldt Seed Co. (not Humboldt Seed Organization),

All these breeders/companies are out of California - that's usually a good indicator - they have the genetics, weather, and the "scene" that a lot of other Seed Breeder/Companies don't have. I know Amsterdam, Holland, Spain also have good breeders/companies; but they're basically taking California genetics, and blowing them up on a commercial scale.

Those are a few breeders (above) I've had experience with - each strain (seed) is identical to the description, and the plants look like clones when growing... and to be honest, I kind of miss "hunting and finding a keeper pheno" with them, because all their strains are so much like clones - you get what you pay for, nothing less.

In my experience with them, every plant is a "keeper pheno".

Beanho Johnny Blaze x C99 - about 3 weeks through flower in a 4x4 tent. Tied a few branches to the side of pot to get better air circulation and light penetration.

BeanHo Petrolia Headstash x C99, grew two females.

1)Tall lanky one, C99 dominant. Smells super strong like grape and orange Flintstones vitamins, very very strong smell and an electric high. Made me remember why I used to love C99, I haven't had her in yearssss

PXL_20231231_053456817.jpg

2) Short branchy one with zig zag stems. I'm tempted to say more Petrolia Headstash side just cause seemingly more indica but I don't really know what Petrolia Headstash is like. Either way this one is a bit more syrupy sweet. Lots of purple. The high is still uplifting but a bit more introspective and does have a bit of a crash at the end. Unfortunately this one threw some nanners late in flower. I'll run it again to see if the clone generations do as well

BeanHo Sour Diesel x SSH

Grew two females, both pretty similar. Tall gals that filled in nicely in the end. Have that Sour Diesel look but on a bit lankier, more delicate frame. Really nice mix of typical fruity/hazey SSH smells mixed in with sour fuel. Great high and great flavour. My only critique would be the buds are a bit loose/delicate. I'm sure there are selections within the line that might be better in this regard

All your buds look great. Thanks for posting because there aren't a lot of places to find info on the BH crosses.

I got some C99 from Quebec Seeds years ago and popped one seed. It wasn't even 6 inches tall when I kicked that skunk out of the house. Smelliest plant I ever grew.

i.love.scotch - nice to see some pics of BeanHo gear; looks like a good harvest for sure.

I currently have a Big Jack (JH x (JH x ST #3) x Bx3) x Blueberry and a Funky Bitch (Romulan x Hawaiian) x F-13 going now in veg - will probably flip to a 12/12 at the end of the week.

The Big Jack x Blueberry has a very "musky" stem rub aroma (no fruitiness at all), and is looking very Jack Herer dominant. The stem rub is very, very sticky too - like glue on fingers...this is going to be one sticky girl. Very lanky structure, I just pinched the tops getting it ready for flower. The internodal spacing is about 4-6" between nodes; and you can tell there's DJ Short Blueberry genetics in her from the color.

The Funky Bitch x F-13 has definitely leaned to the F-13 & Hawaiian Sativa side - it's barely showing sex (but looks Female). Super lanky as well - absolutely no stem rub aroma; and she is so SLOW growing - not sure if this is a reflection of the genetic strains? ....I know DJ Short's gear has a lot of Thai genetics in the F-13, and they're sativa too. This will be an interesting strain for sure.

I'll post some pics soon - not much to see yet, but I'm looking forward to the grow.

Awesome! And your mention of Jack just reminded me I just finished up a bunch of BeanHo's Jack Herer x Black Widow too which I would highly recommend if people don't mind dealing with harder to germinate seeds (they are quite old now)

I grew out 6 females. I don't have much experience with Jack or Black Widow but my observations are that 2 were super tall and lanky and I actually think those are the Black Widow dominant ones. More golf ball bud structure and tropical rotten fruit smells with some ammonia. Really nice. The Jack dominant ones are a bit shorter but more narrow leaf looking and some darker more haze type smells.

My favourite is a medium high one that was done right around Christmas so I call it my Christmas bud. It has smells of boozy fruitcake/spice cake, cherry liqueur, haze. It's really intoxicating and complex! Great uplifting high.

I also have one that is still trucking on week 15 and still not quite done. She was only medium height tho so definitely seems like Jack is the squatter parent which I wasn't really expecting.

I was going to make F2s of this line since it has had some positive comments earlier in this thread. But unfortunately almost all the males were quite intersex. Eventually I found one male that was stable but it was too late to pollenate the females. I will make F2s with this male and a few select females some time in the future

#18 50/50 pheno, tropical fruits, ammonia, meaty, metallic. Tallest of the plants, an absolute beast. Unfortunately didn't get many good photos of this one. She got seeded a bunch and was pretty gnarly by the end

Those Jack Herer x Black Widow are on my next "buy list" for sure - that's one strain I want to try; those bud shots are beautiful.

Also, I just put in an order w/ HD, and I've got a (ChemDawg D/Super Silver Haze) x Black Widow, and, Arcata Trainwreck x Black Widow selection - would be nice to see if the mother plants come through, with the added frost of Black Widow.

Also, I totally forgot to mention that I also have F-13 x Chem Dawg D in veg too: stem rub is "diesel, fuel" - loud for veg, structure is very ChemDawg D, and some color from the F-13 mom. Nice structure, solid plant, strong & healthy. I can't wait to flip to 12/12 and start the next phase.

I need to snip some bottom branches and take a few clones, if any of the plants exhibit "keeper" traits (especially the F-13 x ChemDawg D). But I also have a bunch of seeds I need to work through too, so I don't put much efforts into cloning. I typically try to buy 2x packs of every BeanHo strain, it takes a little bit of extra effort and finesse to get the beans sprouted & growing. I actually went through a 10x pack of ChemDawg D x Super Silver Haze - none of them cracked. :( However, Brad was kind enough to send a replacement :) The ChemDawg D strains definitely need a little extra love to germinate.

Amazing. That's awesome Brad took care of you.

And I'm so happy to have found a new BeanHo enthusiast friend 😁. Keep posting!

I've had good luck revegging any keepers I find. Less work than taking clones especially if you are hunting a lot.

I've been lucky with the SSH crosses I've had 100% germ with those. They are a bit newer than some of the other lines.

Heck it, I'll post my whole BeanHo collection:

Hawaiian Sat/AK47 x Black Widow
Jack Herer x Black Widow
Sensi Star x Black Widow

Johnny Blaze x Blockhead

Petrolia Headstash x C99
Grapefruit/Blueberry x C99

Blueberry/C99 x Chem D
F13 x Chem D
Johnny Blaze x Chem D

SSH x Blueberry

Durban/Kodiak Gold x God
Nigerian Kandahar x God
Sweet Jack x God

Banger Haze x SSH
Mango Haze x SSH
Sour Diesel x SSH
Chem D x SSH
Red Congo x SSH

Phew, that's it I think. I'm contemplating making another order with the new blowout deal even though I already have so many seeds and not enough time (especially these old ones I always want to back up and make F2s etc, big time commitment)

On my wish list from the sale items

Neville's Haze x C99
Johnny Blaze x C99
Time warp x C99

Funky Bitch x SSH (I didn't know what Funky Bitch was so wrote this one off so thanks for putting the lineage in your post, can't go wrong with Romulan x Hawaiian)

I had a pack that didn't pop a single seed a couple years ago. Then I left the seeds in the fridge for a couple years. For the Johnny Blaze x C99 after a couple years in the fridge out of 3 seeds 1 stalled, 1 male, and 1 female. At the price Brad has now (10 packs of 10 for $200) I'm pretty sure I'll get at least my moneys worth.

I'll definitely post pics soon - keep track of them once they start budding.

HaHa... My BeanHo Collection is very similar to yours; I grew a few of the ones on your list in past years:

Hawaiian/AK47 x Black Widow - very LARGE plants (Huge), buds were a mix of the "whispy" Hawaiian & dense AK47, good smoke - longer flowering time.

BB/C99 x CDD - I had one a few years ago that was white with resin, it literally sparkled - it was crazy frosty, really good smoke - good anytime of day. I sprouted a couple this fall with the rest, but the 1 survivor turned out male. This combo is a total winner - should be easy to find keepers.

Grapefruit/BB x C99 - I grew a couple of these over the past summer, popped two (2) seeds, got 2 females. 1 pheno didn't grow more than 3' high (very short, single cola) and it got hit by powdery mildew, and I had to destroy it. the other 1 pheno was a monstrous plant: I constantly maintained to control size, but by end of flower, it was about 7' tall - it had excellent genetics, very resistant to the rain and powdery mildew we had this past season - nothing touched it. The buds were very sweet grapefruit smelling, nice & dense, EZ trimming (which is a huge bonus), smooth smoke, that got your heart racing (like a shot of Strong espresso), really got me fired up, and would slowly mellow out afterwards. VERY POWERFUL.

TimeWarp x C99 - this 1 was a total winner, it had an excellent aroma of LOUD Lemon & cocoa tones ...however, I screwed up the watering - she got way over-watered, and developed root rot, then died...I didn't sample the immature buds. The plant was very FROSTY, aromatic, beautiful plant; NLD thin, narrow sativa leaves on a compact structure (like a compact sativa), and very fast flowering - I can only imagine the quality. Don't hesitate on this one - it's a true winner.

Big Jack x BB - popped 2 seeds, 1 sprouted, turned out to be female. The plant had a beautiful structure, it was a perfect x-mass tree shape, stem rubs were very fruity & sweet....but this was one of the last to start flowering: ...Flowers started at the beginning of September, so it would have finished late October -early November. I thought I might take her inside to finish....but a strong storm came through, and unfortunately she snapped at the base....I wasn't around when it happened, because I've had plants "split" and break, but I've always been able to "mend" the wound....I came home after a long weekend to find it dead on the ground. In contrast, the one that I currently have in veg -is shorter, and the (stem rub) aroma is "musky" - like a men's cologne. Short structure & lanky...

Yeah - I picked up a bunch of his beans too, now that they're on sale...I just sent out another order last week, ...haha ...so many strains on the list I want to have..
