BBC Documentary looking to speak to the cannabis community

Note to IC folks : we might as well at least help to slowly educate representatives of the beeb (BBC) if/when/while they are here... rather than allegorically spitting flames at them... least this way we get to have our say... and it might slowly sink in

Personally we would NOT call the number,, that's  but each to their own :D

Couldn't agree more. Always educate the ignorant and/or naive. They're not ignorant or naive in all fields of life. Everyone is ignorant and naive in some respects.

I considered calling the number he gave me, but the risk is far too high (no pun intended).

you're obviously gonna shoot digital with whatever format you guys roll with so if any of you boys do roll with this in respect of 'showing the public some kinda shit they'll never understand' then be very aware of rushes, cutting room floor if you will..camera rolling long before you get the visit....'hey guys lets get some cutaways, pov's etc etc' 'thanks for the interview...back to get the tapes duplicated by whoever the fuck??? cos it sure aint the director doing the dubbing or any of his security crew...sorry doc-u aint hating on this but it is flawed in all respects for any sane 'illegal' grower...couldnt give a toss what the BBC public think in all honesty, and in relation to smoking the sacred herb? well its a way of life for me and thats it.

: The Royal Charter of the BBC, & the Treason & Felony Act, 1848
Notice Before Action.

It has been brought to my attention that the Corporation has received and is now receiving substantial amounts of funding from the European Union, in breach of Charter Provisions, and that in consequence of this very suspect arrangement the BBC is now reduced to the function of providing both broadcasting & propaganda facilities to a form of alien authority that fails to acknowledge the Supreme Authority of the British Crown.

Now who is operating illegally ..us or you lot .

I'm sorry I don't deal with the big business side. Where did this come from and what does it mean exactly?

Hi Stray,

We are not going to be doing undercover filming so people will know when we are and are not filming. Also just because other people will be helping to make this docuemntary does not mean they are going to hand people over to the police. Couldn't be further from the truth. Also they won't know people's names and addresses so not sure what they could do.

I know there are worries out there for people and understand this but all we are trying to do is give voice to people that don't often get one on television. Lets hope people do come forward and everyone's happy with the final doc.

If anyone does want to chat in private with no details kept, you know you can always call me.

It`s a shame the Q was`nt answered (post 38 page 3) i may have looked a lot more into this , i have read the entire thread & have a feeling that any documentary will not show our true passion for this beautiful plant & the stupidity of the laws against MJ in this country . The best place for that is on sites like C I .
I have to agree with VerdantGreen here

the people you really want to talk to and get the story from are those who have been keeping their heads down and growing their own for years and years, but to get those people to come out of the woodwork is going to be tough because the very reason why they have got away with it for so many years is because they have kept their heads down. you could call it paranoia, but a bit of paranoia can be a good thing if it makes you more careful.

are there any ways you could give the kind of assurances that these people would need ??

VG

I have been close to MJ for 40yrs & still hope i have the ability to plug in a vaporiser when i`m too old to scratch my own balls & only my own security will achive that , i will not be any TV player .
Even if this doc: is made there will be no guerilla/outdoor grows shown so it can only be a Half Doc .

Stay green & safe .

I would never ask someone to risk their freedom in order to make a documentary that will probably end up being over-edited and biased anyway.
It probably has to come from an independent company, like the ones that did The Union perhaps? In fact Bart I think you should watch that movie (again?) as inspiration and perhaps consider whether or not you have something new you can bring to the table :)

It would be interesting if BBC were willing to sign a contract with the people (assuming they find any) involved with the doc, that says IF they were to be incarcerated, BBC would cover all expenses throughout the trial, plus guaranteeing them financially afterwards when they get out. They should be willing to sign such a contract, if they are sooo confident that nobody are to be handed over to the police. But my guess is that it won't happen ;)

As long as money rules the world, there will never be non-biased MJ documentaries that will reach out to the masses, it's an unfortunate fact. I mean most people in my surroundings smoke MJ now and then, some every day, but I only know 3 out of 20+, who have actually seen some of the few quality MJ docs out there (like In Pot We Trust and The Union) and guess who recommended them to watch? To just think that non-cannabis smokers would have heard about the docs then.... it's all about marketing.

We need Michael Bay to produce!!! :D

lol, people want anonymity, and you want them to sign contracts?
I was kinda joking, like it would ever happen in a million years :p

But yeah indeed people want anonymity, the question is whether they or not they actually can remain 100% anonymous, which I sincerely doubt. So I guess anyone who'd be crazy enough to participate would want some kind of guarantee, which of course is irrelevant since nothing is ever guaranteed and they know it. :)

as far as I know, in order to show someone on tv, you need them to sign a release form anyway. Perhaps Bart will comment on whether daffy duck will do as a signature on that form or if a form is even needed these days.

I don't think Dicomaco's idea is that laughable. In theory it's great. Maybe you have a better understanding of contractual law, but I think this could work with a bit of thought...

If BBC were confident in their ability to protect you. They could give you something, sort of as an insurance to say; any loss you incur from this documentary will be paid for by the BBC. Including legal expenses and any loss your family may incur if you were to be imprisoned.

Why would the subject (the grower) have to sign anything? I know usually in a contract there is mutual consideration (I.e. I'll give you £40 a month and you'll give me a mobile phone and the facility to call people) and both parts are party to a contract. But in this case, maybe it's different, only the BBC have a part to play, the grower doesn't need to promise anything to the BBC...

The BBC would give the subject a "paper", with no mention of the subject's name, because there is no need to name them. The BBC know you were the person who took part in the documentary and if it got to a point where the police were to prosecute you, surely there is no doubt that you were the person in the documentary.

Again, let me emphasise, I've little understanding of contractual law or law in general. Feel free to laugh at my ignorance, but I'd appreciate if you could explain where the theory is fundamentally flawed, or possibly contribute to improving it....

Well you are basically asking an organisation to give out bearer bonds to criminals promising to pay them if their criminal activity leads them into trouble with the law. Yes I do know what you're saying, but the public would be up in arms if they tried to do that. They would argue that even if the bbc gave your name out, it wasn't the giving of your name that caused you to be prosecuted, but your initial activity. The only thing you could ask for is a guarantee from the bbc not to give your name to third parties. If they did, you could then try to sue for damages on a breach of contract, but I dont fancy your chances when they were ordered to do it under the law. That contract basically already exists, in the data protection Act, however the govt. put get out clauses into that Act stating that they were able to ignore it. Unfortunately, you can't hold somone to a contract if that contract itself is illegal. For instance if you took out a hit on someone and the hitman failed to kill your target, you couldnt then sue them for breach of contract. And if the courts stated that the bbc had to give out your details, then it would be stating that the contract you had saying that they wouldn't was illegal.
