i say stuff it full of 1 gallon growbags with your friend's clones, veg for a couple weeks then flower! quick, easy, and organic tub will drain excess water, keep ventilation alright and you'll be fine. btw, you can get lights for cheaper than that. a 400 for around $130, i would suggest getting two 400 hps'. not too much heat as long as the bathroom is vented and will cost just a tad more than that fancy schmancy light you're lookin at. keep it simple and you can do this cheap, and pack in 4x8 plants for 32ish, if your friend has the clones hehe. that's a good pound or two, and i think the simplest, best way to do it. (i can fit 4 one gallon growbags in a square foot) good luck!

What is a grow bag exactly? Where do I find them? How much? Also how do you keep the plants stationary if they are in a bag? I know one place that I can get a 400watters for that amount, but I heard that place is a ripp off. And also I don't wanna buy mh/hps shop lights and have to wire up all that blah lol. Eh i'm not looking to score huge amounts of weed it's just personal use. I don't want 2 400 watts because the cost of operation plus more chances on getting busted. A 400 watter will suit me fine. I would like to hear more on the grow bags though. Thanks

Self Explanitory, they come in all different gallonages and are usually black plastic

A few Cents to a few dollars depending on size and quality

Also how do you keep the plants stationary if they are in a bag?

Once you start to get growing you'll see that worrying about the amount of plants is an excercize in futility once you start cloning and collecting strains.

If you prefer less pants, they'll have to be veg'd longer to fill the space wisely.

1 Plant scrog Soiless medium such as shredded rockwool or coco coir and hydroton , top fed, drain to waste hydro would yield even more than the 30 little plants in a sog, but hey, you already said you don't want to grow enough medicine to last you a few months, if you prefer a smaller yield, it's a waste to occupy a full room for this. IMHO

btw it's hard NOT to pull an elbow off a 4HPS with proper technique no matter which way you grow. Just do it right the first time and listen to the people who are giving you advice, as this is what you wanted, opinions right? If you wait for every member to respond they'll each give you a different answer, this acn be done so many ways, but Kingralph had it right, K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Shithead

lol the last "S" in K.I.S.S. is always up for grabs, but stay simple. CpnJack is right, soilless with the right nutes will get ya better yield, but may be finicky if this is your first try.

so ya wanna stick with a single 400hps okay, put a few hooks up top so you can move it a little to the left and right on different days to spread out the light.

1 gallon growbags go for 35 cents a pop (wormsway), 1/3 the price of a pot, which ya don't need since the tub will drain the excess. also, with soil in them, they don't move

CJ has it right if you're worried about bein pinched and plant numbers, a single bush would do well, look around for FIM and LST and supercropping techniques. that will take around a month longer than more small plants tho.

and yeah, usin the whole bathroom for a single 400 is a waste, another light will give you much more yield, add $20 a month to the electric (flowering right away with clones only uses 12hrs as opposed to a longer 18hr veg time for more weeks). 400watts is like adding a computer, that makes no difference to "them". let no one know, and plant numbers shouldn't matter either. the amount of herb you wanna smoke should matter

soil, perlite and budswel in the bag is all ya need under the plant.

it'd be nice to see the grow so that someone could come in and use the bathroom without even knowing what's behind curtain #1

between all the suggestions here and the numerous grow threads in every type room and cabinet, ya should have enough knowledge bestowed to make it happen. best of luck...

Captainjack: Thanks for the advice. I was thinking when ya'll said growbag I was thinking fill it with water/nutes lol im high sorry. So I fill it with soil right? What about drainage so there won't be root rot. BTW did you read this thread start to finish? I'm not going to grow just one plant I'm going to do 4 plants, but possibly more who know just yet, but I don't wanna get caught with 10+ plants lol. And I am trying to listen to advice. I'm just putting it all together and i'm going to come up with something in the end.

Kingralph: Also thanks for the advice. But the question about getting caught and the lighting issue. Can't they fly over your house and use infra red to determine how much light by heat is being used in one area? I might be wrong about this though, but if thats the case 800watts in a small room would trigger some minds in the helis. Plus I'm low on money right now. And I am going to do seedlings/clones probably under the sink with cfl lights. As far as using this whole room with 400 watts. I'm not, I'm going to use the tub and block off the one side where the shower curtain is with a sheet board with mylar or painted white, and then mount hooks on it and hang it where the curtain goes. That way its a smaller area for the 400 watts of light, in short more lumens per sq/ft.

affix a board up top so no light comes outta the shower n you'll have a stealth tub hehe. a 400 watt does 9 plants in a square in grow bags perfectly.

i forgot it's in a top floor, there's a foil that can shield the ceiling, but without it one 400w should be okay. i'm outta advice

My grow area is an extra bathroom ,, you dont need exaust systems & stuff like that man , dont get caught up into the commercial rat race that's going on ..

all you need is a fan , and just open the door a couple of times a day to get some fresh air inside , a 400 watt will raise the relative temperature of the bathroom about 5 degrees cel

here is my 2.50 meter BOG L.S.D , in the bath-tub ...grown under a 400 watt , & yielded 224 g's , but this pheno has a prob with it anyways , nor i or BOG could get this pheno to finish properly , so it would of yielded alot more

go get a shower curtain rail , you probably already have one .. but if you have dark colour tile's around , you want a shower curtain that will surround the whole tub ..

you should be-able to find 1 that looks like an L , so you will need 2 of them & just connect them together ,,or you may be-able to find 1 that looks like half a square

my bathroom is almost exactly like your's , alittle bit bigger but at the end of the bathtub on the toilets side in the corner,, i have about 2 feet space where a towel closet goes , so you understand why i need a shower rail the shape of an L

and 3 or 4 meter's of thick white nylon & or the gardening kind that is black on 1 side & white on the other side

make a shower curtian like i did , so that the curtain surround's the entire bathtub . and put the original shower curtain also so that it shows from the outside as you walk in & not black from the other curtain ..

light will come off the top , but not very much , dont think that trapping that little bit of light that comes out the top , with make a huge difference , because it doesn't

by the time the light reaches bottom and reflect's back up ,, it's lost most of it's affect for a plant ..

if the bathroom has a window , and it has the type of glass that you cant see inside , foggy glass or stained glass cover it with a piece of white or light grey card board , or something that's very close to its original shade , when looking at it from the outside

something dark will look suspicious from the outside

in the back of the pic , is a window , that i actually have a couple of inches open to circulate air inside along with the fan

i cover the glass part with cardboard like i mentioned above & throw some white towels over , or another piece of white plastic so light doesn't escape from the opening

what a good idea! ive been thinking of adding another light to my setup, to add flower-room capacity. currently i am all soil grow with some air-injection in some of the buckets. i was thinking of adding some DWC buckets to add yield, but the hassle of hydro is a major pain. putting it all in the BATHROOM (unused upstairs) would make it at least a little bit easier. got to work on the bathroom window coverup idea....
